Road Trip Fuel Economy

For the curious. Just did a road trip that was roughly 500 miles in each direction going from about 1,000 feet elevation to 5,500 feet.

On the uphill trip, mileage was 26.5 mpg. On the downhill return it was 29.5.

Was on cruise control 95% of the time at 5 over the limit on interstates and highways (limits between 55-75).

I cracked 30mpg at a steady 65mph cruise on the 50 mile average gauge. Very impressive for a 455hp 6.2L V8!

Better than I've seen. But not really broken in yet either.

Amazing! My first two tanks (partials) showed 20.9 and 21.1 mpg, I was amazed it would be that high. Considering the new engine and how tight it is.

Love that fuel management software.

I can get quite impressive fuel economy when I try. This is also the first car I've owned that counted fuel economy when the car is stopped, making it much more accurate.

2SS M6 here- 25-27mpg seems to be about the norm with cruise set between 70-75mph.

Just an FYI on my 16 1SS Convertible. My "displayed gas mileage" is off my about 8%. It shows 22mpg on the DIC and when I figure it manually it is only18 mpg.

That IS figured out the old fashion way...using math. I was also not going much over 3500 rpm and babying it during break in.

With 500 miles on now, I got on it a bit more yesterday and mpg shrank
significantly.

On the M6 SS coupe, I have found it to be off/optimistic by 2.5% each time I hand calculate (have done it 4x).

I noticed every time I fill it I can put about 6/10ths of a gallon MORE than the "Fuel Used" value in the DIC.... so I figure all the MPG calculations are probably off by about 3 to 4%

I noticed this on the first fill but figured I topped it off more than the last refill and it would average out... but it is consistently off.

That's normal , picture this , if you are running a mile in 3 minutes you will be consuming a certain amount a oxigen , but if you try and do that same mile , under the same exact exterior conditions , but you push yourself do do it at let's say 2.35 , you will burn more fuel ( oxigen ) in this case , that's a fact

I drive from 0 elevation to 0 elevation 120 miles each way weekly 72mph average and average 29-31mpg.
Best was 31.6mpg with a 71mph average.
Those are all numbers when she was 100% stock.

Car gets much worse mpg over 75.
