Install MRT V2 without Jack's?

Do you think I could manage installing the MRT V2 exhaust with the car just sitting on garage floor, no jacks or lift? I think I'd have enough room but want to confirm....

Thanks!

Not enough ground clearance?

I couldn't lay on my back and cut it off 3" from muffler?

Just get a pair of cheap jack stands, they will make the job possible and easier.

Didn't realize I could get some for $25. Looks like I'll need to make sure they have good welds though...

When I had my '12 LT, I laid a couple of 2x6s down with a brick under one end and drove the rear wheels up on it. Even then it was difficult since I used a full-size sawsall to cut the pipes. Got it done though.

Can I rent a sawsall somewhere probably? I know I'd have to check my area but generically is that a common rental tool?

Yes. Any good place that rents tools will have one. Probably $15-$20 a day. You can cut the pipes with a typical hand-held hack saw. There's very little clearance around those pipes. Be sure to get the long metal cutting blades for the sawsall.

To quote Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear UK "Even the smallest of chaps with the whitest of teeth could not manage that one"

On a more serious note I highly doubt it can be done without some form of raising the car. I have been able to get under there to tighten the clamps on my MRTs without the lift but it was not cozy

Unless you are a bigger fella, you shouldn't need any jacks. I installed my SLP LM2's without jacks

No lifting is required to get under and cut your mufflers off and install the new axle back

Yes, you should be able to install them without putting in the air. Will it be easy, probably not. I used some ramps I madeout of 2 x 8.

I bought a SAWZALL just for this cut. Figured I could always use one, and have used it a few times since too. Buy one and keep it for future use instead of renting one.

Be sure to look into welding them on when done. Which case find a good muffler shop and have them install them for under $100. No saw required, no jack stands required.

However, no self satisfaction of doing it yourself either. And no jack stands or sawzall for future use.

Choice is yours.
