May 23, 2017 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, the most powerful muscle car ever with 808 horsepower, starts at a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $84,995 (including $1,700 gas guzzler tax, excluding $1,095 destination). Challenger SRT Demon owners who want to unleash its full potential at the drag strip – and its full 840 horsepower and 770 lb.-ft. of torque – can do so for $1 (MSRP).

“Eighty-five thousand dollars is not just a number in a business case to Dodge; we know it's a lot of money and a significant up-charge over a Challenger Hellcat,” said Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA North America. “We worked very hard to build as much value into the Challenger SRT Demon as possible – features, performance and exclusivity that simply can't be duplicated with a goal of maintaining, and possibly even growing, as much future value as possible.”

I'd say we should be prepared to see at least a $15K dealer markup.

If Ford dealers are trying to get 30K markups on a GT350R, I'd imagine a Demon can command that kind of markup if not

I expect a high percentage of them to be garage queens / investments...which is unfortunate.

I read an article on Motor Trend that had a few more details. It sounds like you can get all kinds of creature features in it as well. There's even an option for a sunroof.

These are going to be collector's cars, I would be surprised to see any on the street, well, except for Jay Leno, he will have one out on the street.

Just curious, but is anyone really interested in this car? Who buys this?

Well, there are thousands of people who love to Quarter Mile...so them.

Even at $100K, it is still a pretty good deal if FCA will honor the warranty even if you break something at the drags...if they don't it is substantially less of a good deal.

The big question is the warranty with the race gas ECU and skinnies. IMO the price is terrible for a drag car. But for the piece of history that it will be and a full warranty, I can see the appeal.

I don't recall which, but one of the magazine I received mentioned that Dodge was adamant that the crate does not come with the car. It is purchased through the parts counter.

No sure how that affects warranty but is that still "stock"? I can get a cam for my SS at the parts counter also

Good point, if correct then it really isn't stock and doubtful if they will honor full warranty (unless they write one specifically for track use only). At least this guy can help you add 40hp and get you deep into the 9s

It's beyond stupid! Why would anyone buy the car without all the $1 options then if they don't actually want them sell them. Sell your passenger seat, sell your rear seat, sell the drag kit. So dumb!
