GM Major Guard coverage
I’ve had my Camaro for almost two years now. I recently came into a road situation that scuffed up all four of my rims (idiotic Oklahoma roads). I possess the major guard coverage from when I purchased my vehicle. Does this agreement cover my rims as far as getting them fixed or would they replace them? The front two are pretty scrapped up, but the rears aren’t nearly as bad.
Has anyone dealt with this before? If you have, your comments would be most welcomed!

Major Guard only extends coverage for items and issues covered by your original factory warranty.
Damage to rims from road hazards will not be covered. A separate tire and wheel policy that is usually offered at time of purchase will cover damage to rims and tires from road hazards. Your insurance will cover repair/replacement less any deductible. Last edited by breakskeet; 08-08-2018 at 12:19 PM. |

If this was damage due to road conditions you may be able to file a claim against the state for wheel repairs. I would check on this before filing a claim with your insurance.

In Michigan in order to get the state to approve a claim you need to show they knew about the hazard for 30 days.

All 4 wheels, huh?
I'd love to hear this story. |

Pretty much the same here in Florida. My wife messed up one of the rims on her Tesla on a pothole. Took pictures of the road and rim and had estimates for a new rim because it was unrepairable. State law doesn't allow claims agains municipalities unless you can prove that they were previously notified about it. Once she reported and sent in her paperwork for claim against the city of Tampa, the pothole was fixed the next day.

Bloody pot holes we have here in Oklahoma.. They take a chunk out of your ass. I found out there is some kind of wheel and tyre coverage that was combined with my GM Major Guard. I called the dealership I purchased it through. They told me to bring it in to have it examined. We will see what happens

It would be pretty cool if they get them covered for you under some other coverage. The Major Guard excluded items list includes wheels/tires. In general, it only covers mechanical failures, not physical damage.
