Would you purchase a former Rental Camaro?

As the title hints, if you were shopping for a used 2013 or 2014 2SS, would you purchase a former rental car? If not why not?

Reasons Im asking of course is that Ive been shopping around for a 2SS recently and I have the fever for one BAD so Im ready to buy now, even though my brain tells me to wait a little longer for a better deal (and a bigger down payment) on something new.
At a local dealer Ive seen 2013 (50K miles) and 2014 (34K miles) 2SS models come up and only asking about $25,000 or $28,500, wondering what are the pitfalls and if I should even bother looking at them since they were part of a former rental fleet and are fairly high miles for the model year.

Thanks for any input!

**** no. I'd rather buy a used track toy than a rental. The rental as most likely driven as a track toy without the maintenance a track toy sees.

If I got a good price, looked at the car and made sure all was working and cosmetically did not look abused, it would not bother me. I am not a huge fan of buying new vehicles, but when you need a 1LE in 2013, there were not many options.

I think you would find that maintenance on rentals is often better than some used private party sales.

Agreed. my first car (2010 2ss) was a 'former' rental car. had better maintenance records than my current one.

not unless it was 25% or so of normal value. Rental cars are abused terribly and maintained at the bare minimum to get them through a couple years before they're sold. Being someone that keeps cars long term, that abuse and lack of maintenance would catch up to me eventually, I'd want to make up for it on the purchase price or It would not be worth it.

I live with a former Hertz head mechanic. I'd rather take the track toy any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

No - have you ever seen me drive a Rental? I'm surprized I'm not on more than 2 "Do Not Rent to" lists

NO. Too many good used ones out there. If I were to buy used, I would be willing to travel a long distance to get one of those one owner garage queens that never came out in bad weather and was took care of like a new born baby.

Guess I got 'lucky' with mine then. Zero problems. I also owned a former rental Beretta way back when with no problems..to each their own.

I would bet that every single person who rents an SS does at least one burnout. I know I rented a V6 and drove it like I stole it, every time I started it. Had it for one week. It had 400 miles on it when I got it. Never did anything that would be considered abuse, but I would call it heavy usage.

So, the answer is no. I would not buy a rental Camaro.

I would look it over, but I wouldn't just rule it out because it was a rental (depending on the company). Enterprise would be one of the better companies to buy from.

You don't know how any car was driven, regardless of whether it's a rental or not. I see people all the time that drive their cars hard and don't have the best maint. habits.
