Also a suggestion that appeared in those threads was to have separate general discussion forums for the V6 and SS models. This would keep them from going at each others throats from time to time. I think it would be good to keep the general Camaro discussion open as well. So much emotion for these cars!

Nah, that doesn't bother me. I know more about the SS mechanical wise than my car anyway.

I see you are interested in the 1LE too. A question for you. Often I see track day videos. Since nothing can be loose in the car, what constitutes an acceptable mount for a a camera in or outside of the car?

A GoPro suction mount or something similar. Those things weigh really next to nothing.

But GM has asked us if they should build the 1LE. So this car is way beyond a rumor. Can't we have our own section where all the polls could reside and the 1LE fans can defend the concept? To me the 1LE is the Z28 I am looking for. I do not care what they call it. The 1LE with almost all the ZL1 engineering and a strong NA engine (the LS3) that can be more affordable is a Camaro that I will break out the wallet for.

And for those of you worrying about the car that cannot be named, The B***, look at that Motor Trend test where they were amazed that the ZL1 carried more speed through the corners and showed better braking.

So I say if you want to beat that pesky Ford with your 1LE, spend more time at the track. Given that the 1LE will be a little lighter than the ZL1 the race should be pretty even with one or the other having a slight advantage depending on the track. A driver's race for sure. The best kind.
1LE will be added to the SS General Discussion most likely. If you've been following the 1LE, its an add-on not a seperate vehicle. 1LE doesn't deserve its own section. Stop crying...

Before we decide what does and doesn't "deserve" something......let's just take a breath.

We're currently debating what to do here...We'll let everyone know when we come to a decision.

Just curious. What is the debate? Is it where to put the 1LE section? Or to have it at all?

Well, one of the problems is that it seems like it should be added as a subsection to the SS sub-forum. Except ... we don't actually have an SS sub-forum, that somewhat complicates matters.

If you look at the engineering differences from the SS it is much more than an option. It is aimed at a different market. It is a different model. And according to Chevrolet a much faster car at the track. That track angle makes it very different from an SS.

It is very different than say a Synergy or a TE edition. These are paint/badge packages.

And really if the Z28 does come out it will most likely be a 1LE with a higher HP engine and of course a badge.

Some fuel

1991

Chevrolet built 478 Z28 Coupes with "1LE" equipment for 1991. The exact amount of true 1LE's is not known this year as a majority of the 478 units were "B4C" Special Service (or Police package) RS Camaros which had the 1LE front brakes (1LE brakes were a mid year option on the 91 B4C as it was quickly realized that the standard front brakes were not suitable for police use -thus some B4C's got the 1LE brakes and some did not). As in 1989 and 1990, Ordering the RPO G80 Limited-slip rear axle & G92 RPO G92 triggered the build. RPO G92 required one of two engine combinations, the 305ci LB9 V8 with 5-speed manual, or the 350ci B2L V8 with 4-speed automatic transmission. When ordered with air conditioning, RPO G92 ($466) included engine oil cooler, 4-wheel disc brakes (except for a brief period when 4-wheel discs were deleted with a $287 credit), and dual-converter exhaust. When ordered without air condi*tioning, RPO G92 ($675) added heavy-duty front brakes, aluminum driveshaft and spare wheel, special shocks and fuel pickup, and gas tank baffle. Fog lamps were deleted for weight savings and improved cooling.
That's my '91 B4C. The 1LE had a run from 1988 to 1999. 1LE's were available after that but was an SLP package and not from the factory. I would post some facts about how this RPO (1LE) was ONLY available on a Z28 in '91 to '99, unless packaged as B4C (only 478 in '91; one in my garage), and the IROC-Z in '88 to '90 but that may ruffle the diehard Z enthusiasts.

So if you don't end up with a committed forum for the 1LE, at least give it a sub-forum under the Z-28. History shows that was the only way you could get it.

Chevy runs deep? You betcha!

I like that a Z28 sub forum. But what if the 5th gen Z28 never arrives.

Side question and a thread jack. Is Camaro6.com already associated with this site?
