Do you want bolt ons or more? With a cam and headers you can easily be where you want

The 1LE is going to be a better starting point because of the rear end and trans gearing plus better suspension. UNLESS, you are talking about going hard core and ripping all that out anyways. Then I would get an L99 SS.

I think the first question is whether or not he wants a manual or auto since the 1LE is manual only.

manual for sure i race with the UMTR stick cars only.

i dont think anytime soon i will be gutting the rear end maybe a ways in the future it will get a 9" and it will be a track only car. i do like the wheels better on the 1le but those will get changed when i need new tires. for now i just want more of a street car.

if header a cam and a tune can get me into the lower 12's thats perfect that is less than 3500 im sure but if i did that with the 1le it would be a little faster unless the suspension is that bad for drag racing

I have a friend with a 2010 ss and runs high 12's with just a cold air on street tires with a manual. with bolts ons you should be able to hit low 12's without too much problem

Though real world results have shown otherwise, the 1LE in theory should be faster on the drag strip than the regular SS. It is a bit lighter, comes with better/wider tires from the factory, and has better gearing. It should be on average at least 1-2 tenths and 1-2mph faster in the 1/4 mile than a regular SS. But for some reason actual track results show them to be about the same. I think motortrend trapped 112mph with their 1LE which is what I think should be the norm for all 1LEs but it's typically 107-110mph just like a regular SS.

It is set up more for road racing, but mod for mod it seems to be equal with a regular SS on the drag strip. And you still get the better handling and better looks.

I had it to the track once since I have owned it but got rained out before i could make a pass so I don't know what numbers I would run other than what the internet says. You said that you plan on turning it into a track only car so that means eventually you are going to change the suspension and drive train so I would think your better off saving the money and putting it into other things unless you want a car with a great drive train and suspension right off the bat.

I don't believe there is a hp boost for Camaro w/ NPP. There is for the Vette, yes.

There's no difference. The dual mode exhaust is a stand alone option, as is the 1LE package when ordering an SS.

The 1LE does come with a different air filter though.
