What I think Ford will do

With Chevy upping the V6 to 335hp keeping it as the middle option which is as it should be. Any wanna bet that Ford bumps there V6 HP back up again making it their middle option again over the ecoboost 4?

Highly unlikely for this generation. Maybe next. I think the whole 4 cylinder is just silly. What's next a twin turbo viper or corvette? Leave the rice engines for the imports. I'd be embarrassed to drive around in a "camaro" that sounds like a honda civic. Can't wait for the fart cans to hit the 6th gens. Proud day. I guess if it makes money then who cares about the over all image of these cars.

Yep I agree about driving a 4 cylinder that will compete with a civic. Also meant the V6 bump for either 2017 as 2016 is proabably already to late to change.

4 cylinder and Camaro just don't go together.

Op Where did you see the HP increase for the V6? Link? I didn't see it on the Chevy website for the Gen 6. Wonder what they did to bump up the hp . Wonder if it can be done to the LFX Gen5 engine V6.

Chevy, again droppes the ball.
V6 NA 335 Hp
V6 Boosted 430 HP
V8 Na 455 HP
V8 boosted ?600+HP?

I did not see a Four cylinder in the line up.

That's why it's an addition to the traditional lineup. Like I've been saying for years, GM produced a variant designed to attract new customers in addition to the traditional lineup that will retain old customers. By adding a new engine, a guy interested in a 370Z, BRZ, FR-S, WRX, STi, or other trims may at least consider the Camaro as a potential candidate. For the same reasons that not every truck guy drives a dually heavy duty—fuel economy—some people just don't want the biggest engine. Their sales will allow GM to invest more into higher trims and Chevrolet Performance parts.

Not only did they offer a turbo 4, it's sure to lose to the Mustang Ecoboost with 40hp.

Guess you can't hit a homerun every time.

Weren't all the numbers stated as "at least"? I bet they find some more power before release...

Chevy knows most of its buyers wont be getting the 4 cyl. so they just made it an option for those who just want a Camaro.

The 4 cylinder option gives the V6 guys someone to pounce on.

Meh, I'm glad about the 4 cylinder. Now when people ask "Is that a V8?" I can respond "No, it's the V6," and they will say, "Nice, at least it's not the 4 banger!" instead of "Man, you should have got the V8!"

My car is around 330HP with mods, and it seems car guys are hesitant to acknowledge its power for "a V6".. but now that there's a lower model out, I think people will give it a second thought, instead of automatically dismissing it because it's not a V8.

The turbo 4 makes almost 40 ft-lbs more torque than the V6 option, important since most users won't take their car over 5000 RPM's.
