Yeah, I don't think any company needs to be afraid. Brand loyalty is a funny thing and something I don't quite understand. I agree that most people aren't cross shopping German or Japanese cars with camaro but I would be in that slim group that is. BMW is just too much money for what you get, imo. I had high hopes for the new G37 coupe but between the engine and the car they recently showed, they've removed themselves from the contest. The Lexus IS F is a beautiful sedan on the outside but inside is underwhelming and, as Toyota so often does, the performance and feel of the car also leave a lot to be desired.

Between design (inside and out), performance, and price, the camaro SS fits the bill. The interior sold it for me. Of course I'll wait til I see the build quality in person but I think Chevy will do it right.

I think they need to worry, but I don't think a person who was legitimately looking at an M4 will buy a Camaro or Mustang. A few, sure, but the ATS-v may take a few sales. And a few looking at the ATS-V may be swayed to get into a Camaro.

Brand image is big with people and while they may take a small step away I doubt many will jump from a performance BMW to a Camaro. People are getting tired of German reliability, cost, maintenance (and maintenance cost) and just that crowd all together though.

Unfortunately Camaro's are looked at as redneck cars, but perhaps the gen6 will change that a little. Mustangs are also looked at as teenager cars and Dodge's have their own negative stigma. Is what it is.

Not really. The woman drives one. It's a decent car; but, to me, the price wasn't justifiable. She felt differently. There is a 10k price difference between the 2SS and the 435 Msport. I see why with the 5th gen, not so much with 6th gen. Of course, if GM hasn't announced pricing yet so they could close that pricing gap.

I wouldn't look twice at any BMW because they simply do not impress me. Just not my style.
I imagine an avid BMW affectionado might feel the same about a Camaro. They will learn the hard way and if not from the Camaro the CTS-V will suffice.

I would be very surprised if BMW, Mercedes and Audi even so much as flinched at the 6th gen. Those makers are on a completely different level. The Camaro may perform as well but it won't have the reputation to grab buyers.

I just see the BMW as bland and boring as far as looks. As far as performance goes, I don't know enough about them, but I assume if you throw a tune for that extra 70 hp or whatever that your warranty is toast. Cost for repairs after warranty would be expensive as hell I would imagine. If you can afford it, I suppose it doesn't matter. I would never buy one, if I won one I would sell it for a C7 Z06.

We owned a BMW for three years. It was a great road car with beautiful leather interior and an awesome sound system. But it did have several electrical problems. When I was ready to get something new I wanted a more primal experience and ended up with a Camaro SS. My wife wanted something refined and more reliable, she got a Lexus. I think a Gen 6 is in my future, hopefully a ZL1.

I have four family members that in the last 10 years have traded in their BMW's for Porsches, Mercedes and Lexus' due to reliability issues. BMW should be worried about its product and its competition.

Its a different segment, M, AMG, RS have little to fear as most of their buyers will not slum and get a Chevy or Ford.

I do think you'll see those that would buy used M's, AMG's and RS's may opt for new GT's and SS's with the level of technology and refinement mainstream brands are cooking into their new cars.

Yup. Boring. Bland. They do nothing for me, but the character of the OWNERS do even less for me. I do not care to be associated with those pretentious douchebags. I go out of my way for the M-class and Merc AMG cars when I come across one. Just so they can be dropped down a notch.

The ones who should be afraid are mostly the asian auto makers because now that the Mustang and Camaro both offer a turbo 4 people who want gas mileage, performance and looks will have much better options than a Hyundai

That is EXACTLY what I have been thinking. This will HAVE TO effect the Asian import market. This could get really interesting.

Euro cars are usually a pain to work on or mod, and very pricey in comparison to domestic cars. Very expensive when taking to dealer for normal servicing, unless you buy their plan, like BMW. However, nowadays, even taking my Charger to the dealer for an oil change is expensive, so I do it myself. Especially if you use synthetics. And yes, as far as Euro cars being a status symbol, even the entry level BMW/Mercedes owner feel a little prestigious.
