I can't wait to see a test between the 17 ZL1 and Hellcat with Randy Pobst running laps. That will be funny.
They've run Willow before, both the Charger and Challenger.

"At full-tilt, the Challenger SRT Hellcat managed 141 mph on the straight and lapped Big Willow in 1 minute 44 seconds. Again, in more capable hands, the Challenger would probably drop into the 1:30’s and give both the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and Ford Mustang GT500 a genuine battle if not a beating."

These guys don't seem to grasp the differences in times. 1:44 is terrible and they are assuming someone can get it into the 1:30s which means absolutely zero since that 10 sec range from 1:40-1:30 has a huge number of cars. Also the fastest FWD is a 1:37 and is a Acura TL. Just for some perspective, their times were terrible period but they are no Randy Pobst I know.

I think the best example of the Hellcat times is the H2H vs the old ZL1. Over a P2P race with few curves, the ZL1 was within 0.15 tenths. So much for the power. It should have blown by the ZL1 if it could actually corner at the speeds near the ZL1.

I also wonder how much fighting against all the inherent flaws has to be done for the Hellcat to actually do "well" on the road course.

I think there's a reason (s) why Dodge doesn't tout it as a road course car.

The Hellcat or "Hellboat" as you call it is a very comfortable car. The Challenger, like it or not, is responsible for the new Camaro's. I am more than happy to see the Mustang, the Challenger and the Camaro in competition in 2016 and beyond. It makes for a new car worth considering other than the ridiculous prices of new cars (or Trucks).
What I see at the Dragstrip is that the Mustang is usually the car that ends up in the wall. From what I see of the Camaro's is that they are barges in weight and apparently there is an issue with the manual shifter because they ain't no Muncie. Lol You could at least shift a Muncie but that doesn't ensure longevity. Thye 2016 Camaro is a breath of fresh air and an overall improvement in styling but I still favor the tail lights on the 2014-15 models. A shame it took Chevy so long to fix that Cheshire Cat sleepy eye'd look. Now if they would offer a different front grille for the coming ZL1 it would be great. It is a look that I like the least when I see Imports with the same grille. It's just ugly, it looks like the Predators face with his mask off.

Pretty cool. All in all. Bashing the fat kitty or whatever name you want to call it wont work when your get your ass handed to you in it. It's always the guys who don't even own any of the cars mentioned that talk the most crap, lol.
Not sure your point. The previous posts indicate, at least in one comparison, there is no handing out to be done by the Fiat. The CTS-V, with the same engine as the ZL1 is getting was the faster car.

As for disrespecting the Fiat? Do so at your own risk. I just suggest you have a CTS-V or 2017 ZL1 at your disposal if you do.

I found this Motor Trend where Randy Pobst lapped Willow Springs - Streets of Willow to 1:26.87 in the Charger. No comments but his hands are moving. For comparison, previously Randy drove a 1LE to a 1:22.7 lap. Don't see a HC Challenger listed.

During testing, the 2015 Charger Hellcat achieved the same 0-60 time as the Challenger, a quick 3.7 seconds, but was just a tenth of a second and 1 mph slower than the Challenger Hellcat for the quarter mile. However, during a hot lap at Streets of Willow with driver Randy Pobst, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat achieved a time that beat out the likes of the Ford Mustang EcoBoost and Subaru WRX.

When the 17 ZL1 arrives it would be interesting to see a three way comparison with the Hellcat Challenger and GT350R. I'd guess it won't dominate either in their area of strength but will equal or slightly edge both. Think about that!

Looks like the ZL1 will be around 3900 lbs or so a good 500lbs lighter than the hellcat. That puts the ZL1 power to weight ratio at 6.1 if GM sticks with 640hp and the hellcat at 6.2, damn close.
Well the ZL1 does have the advantage in transmission, weight and acceleration. It has less power than the Hellcat, while the ZL1 has 640 horsepower, the Hellcat has 707 with the red key which I HIGHLY recommend using, and 500 with the black key which should just be for valet use only.

With the ZL1 they didn't give you training wheels!

Never understood the 500 hp black key for valet. 500 hp can still get the valet driver in trouble with your car.

It's not a valet key from what I remember. There's an actual valet mode on UConnect that limits RPM and locks out 1st gear. The black key is just to keep the car more streetable.
