TPMS (2016+ SS)
I’m not sure if this has been stated, is so please disregard this thread.
We all know the TPMS sensors in the 2016 SS utilize 433Mhz sensors. The AC Delco part number is 13598787 and they’ll run you about $50/each. In addition to the aforementioned part number, it also interchanges with 22853740, 13581561 and 13589601. It is not necessary for you to use AC Delco sensors. There are aftermarket sensors that operate at 433Mhz that will work fine. Any GM vehicle with an RPO of XL8 utilizes the 433Mhz sensors. I picked up a set of 4 from eBay, for a total of $55. https://m.ebay.com/itm/Set-of-4-NEW-...23?_mwBanner=1 The sensors utilize the same learn procedure as the AC Delco sensors utilizing the appropriate handheld tool. The tool of choice is the El-50448 but there are other cheaper options that accomplish the same task. Tire sensors programmed just fine and the appropriate pressures, as verified by a handheld digital gauge, are displayed on the DIC (haha). Winter setup is complete. When the Spring rolls around I’ll swap the summer rubber back on and program the factory sensors back to the car. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

You can find the AC Delco for around 50-60 new for 4. I did.

Keyword there is “find”. More power to you if you can “find” them for 50-60 new. I did some searching before I bought the eBay sensors and found them to be $50-60 for 1. At the end of the day they’re tire pressure sensors. No need to break the bank on them. I simply provided an alternative that doesn’t require “find”ing them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Using the EL-50448 tool with the same sensors as DirectTo (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Last edited by 302Blue; 01-15-2018 at 07:46 AM. |

So I was beginning to think the TPMS sensors I ordered were not compatible. they are part no. 13598773, I had tried to set them a few weeks ago when I changed to the winter wheels I had bought for the car. I tried it several times then and tried it a few times since. There was something rattling around though in the 50448 tool I bought though, so I shook that out, appeared to be a small bb/bearing, and put a fresh battery in the tool, went out, and it worked like a charm. No issues. I found the sensors on ebay, advertised as new, looked new when I got them.
To get into learning mode, you first must go into service mode, do this by pushing the "start" button and holding it in without depressing the clutch. Eventually, after 10 seconds or so, it goes into service mode. I'm not sure if I had to have my foot on the brake, but I did it anyway. Last edited by JamesNoBrakes; 01-14-2018 at 11:24 PM. |

Scroll to the tire pressure display. Press and hold the select button to enter learn mode. The car will honk. Walk to the driver’s front tire, press the sensor tool against the tire above the stem (not the wheel) and activate the button. The car will honk. Repeat at the front passenger, then rear passenger, then rear driver. Done. |

It's in the manual. Go into service mode with the engine off, then select the tire pressure screen on the cluster, then hold down the "ok" button. That's exactly what the manual says to do.

Okay, that worked. Thank you, didn't realize the car needed to be in service mode to get to the tire pressure learning mode. Thought you could just hold select on the tire pressure screen while the car was still on :P
