Green valve stem caps
I just bought a 2013 2LT/RS Camaro, love the car, and noticed all of the valve stem caps were green. Would this signify nitrogen gas was used to fill the tires? I have a local tire dealer that will put green valve stem caps on if you elect nitrogen gas when buying/installing new tires from them. Just wondering.

On our aircraft we use yellow stem caps to indicate nitrogen used in the tires......I'm sure the green means the same

Go with helium. Makes your car lighter.

they use green caps to let you know the wheels have a tire pressure monitor system. I have them on my malibu, and cruze.

I wish my Camaro had nitrogen; then my TPS wouldn't come on and off.

Not true. Green caps are supposed to indicate nitrogen was used to fill the tires.

i understand they are "supposed" to indicate notrogen filled, but its not a given, as i have green caps on my cruze and malibu, neither of them were filled with nitrogen, hence the change in preasure when the temps change. |

Not true. Green means nitrogen. Has nothing to do with you tire pressure monitor system. An yes, it's a GIVEN. The fact that someone didn't filled them with nitrogen means your dealer is an idiot. Go to a another dealer.

Just to throw a iron in the fire, the air that we breath is approximately 79% Nitrogen, the Oxygen content is approximately 20%, and 1% other gases. If "compressed air" has over 3/4 Nitrogen, is the 100% Nitrogen really that big of an advantage? Possibly a expert in tires can answer that question.
