Looks like about $1,900 in parts $5,000 in labor. But you do get a nice dash plaque. Pulley and ATI damper usually means spinning the blower faster.....don't see any additional cooling mod's in that list so could be a dyno queen.

Looks like you get a warranty, 12/12. If they could piggy back the factory warranty, that would justify the cost for what is being done, and might make me consider it. Like the mods you could get from SLP on the 4th gens that were recognized by GM and didn't affect your factory warranty.

I have some serious doubts the ZL1 will best the Zo6 in hp. I'm thinking we'd be lucky to get 650.

The intersting part of the HP question is that Chevy has known for years what the stright line performance benchmark is. 650 HP isn't going to dominate that statistic. Will they be satisfied with that or go big like they did in the SS trim?
My gut says that if the ZL1 can match the HC on the strip and GT350R in a lighting lap, Chevy would consider it a win.

I am as confident as I can be that whatever the HP, the Camaro will beat all reasonable competition and embarrass many it shouldn't even compete with.

Well we know the ZL1 won't match or beat the hp on the hellcat, but it doesn't need to with its lighter weight. I also believe it will suprise a lot of people and beat cars twice its price

It all sounds great on paper but don't get your hopes up. The hellcat runs stronger than it's power suggests. I'd be happy if the zl1 is as quick as the hellcat, but it would suck for GM to have us waiting this long for them to set us up for disappointment.

Yeah it's gonna be an awfully close race between the two. With the 10spd I think the Camaro will have the edge from a dig. The quarter mile times will be awfully close as well. Can't wait to find out.

Rumors on the HC are reduced weight in 2018 by more than 300 lbs and whole new look - but retaining the retro feel. But... get this, HP upped to 750. And, the HC hp exceeds their flagship auto the Viper. So, in an effort to steal the crown, GM might just suprize us and let the current ZL1, just for one year, exceed the Z06. Not likely, but with that higher top hat on the motor it certainly has the ability to. So, just like in 2012, they lead for a year before the GT500 upped game to 662HP. Then, catch up time again. The HC has stolen the crown and held it for more than two years. It's a beast. And they are setting the agenda, not reacting to it. Be nice to see GM set the agenda.

First, the Charger redesign has been pushed back to 2019 at the earliest -- might even be 2020. It's possible Dodge could turn up the wick on the Hellcat motor. Dodge engineers admitted that they originally had the motor making 800HP but had to detune it to meet emissions. Now that they've had a while to work on it and refine it, it doesn't seem outrageous that they might bump the power a bit. BUT the next-gen Charger will be based on the Alfa Giulia platform, and that engine bay simply doesn't have room for the Hellcat engine. They'll need a different engine architecture for a future Hellcat. |

Bone stock, I'm sure the Camaro will easily beat the Hellcat which has no traction. It seems to me, Chevy has really worked hard on getting great traction on the Camaro and I am sure the ZL1 will receive the same attention. I easily and embarrassingly beat a bone stock Hellcat at Memphis International Raceway earlier this year. He struggled to break into the 12s...literally. He showed up a few weeks later with drag radials and ran deep into the 11s in hot weather.

Based on the videos I've seen of Vettes launching, I think the combo of the ZL1's bigger tires plus more sophisticated launch software, plus its power to weight advantage will have it winning most drag races, at least on stock tires. |
