It is, but apparently recognition of sarcasm is not part of your higher education!

There's nothing for me to man up to but I will do this. I will eat a huge portion of humble pie and make a public apology on this forum for ever doubting your mathematical genius talent IF........... You contact GM High Tech Performance and have them retract the portion of the published article relating to the 60' times and the correlation to the elapsed time. Based on you showing them the error of their ways, I would expect them to publish a corrected article based on mathematical facts supplied by yours truly. I will be looking for the new article.

And I understand that traction of a DR regardless of wheel offers the greatest improvement over stock in the 1/4, I was looking for input strictly on a setup of welds/bogarts vs. say stockers w/ drs, or c6's in back on drs. Going to be picking up a set of c6 z06's for the time being but Can't hurt to think about future

FYI, the P305/45R18 is a 29" tire. It isn't too much bigger but its not smaller either. Most that go to the 17" rim are using 28" tires. That alone is a small boost in performance.

The OD of a 305/45-18 is 28.81...I went from running 305/45-18's to 315/35-20's
and not an ounce of difference....same 60 ft...same 1/8 mile time...same 1/4 mile time.

Hmmm... Discount Tire lists them as 29". Where did you get that 28.81"?

305mm wide
45 aspect ratio 18" wheel 305/25.4 (mm/inch) = 12.0 inches wide 12.0 inches wide x .45 (for the aspect ratio) = 5.40" sidewall 5.40" sidewall x 2 (because there are is a sidewall on each side of the rim) = 10.80 inches 10.80 inches of sidewall + 18" wheel = 28.8" tire Of course....that doesn't mean the tire isn't 29" tall when installed on the rim and aired up....but not on the car. Mine end up being about 27.8" tall once you put the weight of the car on them. |
