My Walmart ramps work great. They will slide though if the concrete finish is smooth as a baby's but, brushed finish they grab. The rope trick sounds good.

for any one having problems driving up onto the walmart ramps... just set a 1X 6 piece of wood down in front of the ramp... that extra ~1" will save your fascia as you approach the ramp.

debating between these or building some DIY with 2x10s, for oil changes / catback install.

I have an old set of ramps but I don't recall where I got them. I put a couple of 2 X 4's that someone else suggested when I ramp up the front, the tires are larger than the width of the ramp.
When I tried to ramp up the rear the tires were much wider than the ramp is wide and I was to nervous to get under the car. If Walmart has a set of ramps that are wider than another I would get the widest they have. Russ |

My dad used home made ramps for 30 years and never had one problem...
I have a set of steel ramps I bought at K-Mart 30 years ago, but now I had to modify them because cars are a lot lower now than back when I got them, I use a spotter to make sure I am aligned right on them.

Rhino ramps at Auto Zone, the 12,000 lb rated and bought for under $50.

You should never ever trust a set of ramps or a jack without first blocking up the car before getting under it.

I'd avoid the plastic ones. Personal opinion. I wouldn't get ramps for the Camaro at all. The front end will hit the ramp going up, unless you use boards. If your going to do all that, just use some old masonry blocks.

I personally wouldn't go cheap on something that holds 4k lbs above me.
