Would you pick up a hitchhiker?
So I'm going down the highway, I see a hitchhiker and not a cute girl some guy with his thumb out. I keep on going because I don't pick up hitchhikers and as I pass him, I look in my mirror and he is flipping me off.
Even if it was a cute hot female, I would still keep driving. What is your view? |

It's been a really long time, but I've picked them up before.
Not sure if I still would or not... I never really see any anymore though.

Commits weekly crime

Well...I have picked up hitchhikers in the past in other cars.
After my first and ONLY time doing it in the Camaro...never will happen again. It was a sunny Saturday, and I was doing a drive from Seattle to Eastern Washington over State Route 20. I was heading to Omak to head into Canada and drive Route 3 back to Vancouver, BC. Anyways, I had just passed Winthrop (a town I love to visit...I do a cruise there with other 5th Gens each year now). Now, this is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I see this guy on the side of the road trying to hitch a ride near Twisp. He didn't look scary, and look clean and normal. That area is a small town type area, with lots of friendly people, so I figured what the hell. I stop and pick him up. I ask him where he's headed, and he's headed to Omak. He says he's headed there to pick up some prescription drugs and needs to get there by a certain time. I'd have to speed a little to make it, but on the back roads that wasn't a huge issue as there was no traffic. So, he starts talking about how he's heading there to pick up pain medication because he had been in a car accident. He then starts talking about how the police always seem to be following him, and harassing him. Ut oh. The talk starts moving into the crazy talk like he was schizophrenic, and by that time I start driving a LOT faster to make sure he won't even try to risk a car-jacking and to get him there that much quicker. He keeps talking about how the cops think he sells drugs, and are always trying to bust him...and he just wants to mind his own business (Possibly true?...no idea). Anyways, I get him to Omak finally and drop him off. A little later, I get up to the Canadian border, and am waiting in line to cross. I look down in the foot area for the passenger seat, and see his notebook that he must have accidentally left in the car. I notice there is tin-foil inside both covers, and another thing of tin foil that seemed to be wrapped around something. At this point, I'm worried he left drugs in the car, so I take a moment to pull into a parking area, and examine the notebook. There weren't drugs in the notebook, but I threw it in the trash...I feel bad for doing that, but it wasn't likely I would have been able to find him, since the notebook didn't have a name or any numbers in it. After that...I'm not sure I'll ever do it again...

Steve, that is some story. Makes a person think twice about pickin up strangers. I have never seen a hot girl hitchhiking either. Who knows if they are in trouble with the law or involved in drugs or would try to steal your car.
