[Video] Is this A8 park to reverse shift normal?

Stare at the nose, or the chevy emblem on the front, specifically at 0:07.
EDIT: New (video, closeup)

I start the car, shift into reverse. I then shift into park and go back into reverse again.

Partly due to a worse version of this video (and shift problems), the transmission was replaced at about 500 miles. Car has 1500 miles now and it is returning. Sounds quite loud when it shifts in also. Very obvious inside the car.

Is this normal?

Yeah it's not nearly as bad as the original trans, but it seems to be progressively getting worse. I'll check out another SS like you said, thanks. I'll try to get a better video too. Doesn't look the same here as in person.

Seems a bit excessive. The dealership probably needs to relearn the trans shift adapts again. If they even did it the first time around.

They said they did it a couple of times before and after the new trans. Maybe they didn't do it right, which seems about right for these dealers lately.

Mine doesn't shift into reverse even remotely that hard. Are you shifting into reverse right after start-up while the rpms are still high?

This exact shift in the outside video was after driving 13 miles home and parking, leaving the car on, going inside to grab the camera, and filming the shift.

Sorry to resurrect an old post, but what happened with this? I'm experience this issue on my 17 2SS A8.

I’ve got about 10,000 miles on mine and I don’t tbink I’ve ever experienced that, but I’ve never stood outside the car to watch it. I’m guessing it feels as bad or worse in the car as it does outside so I’d get it looked at again!

That’s Differently not normal. It should be smooth and hear nothing. That should be fixed or whole car returned if they can’t fix it by the third time.
