Header Cost Help
Hi guys, need some help.
My car a 2013 1LE currently has only the AirRaid cold air system, seems to have helped on Mustang Dyno showed 20Rwhp gain. I Could feel it. I can only afford another simple mode. Going with headers. Are there long tube headers by a good company that will cost me about $850 installed. Could I also get the high flow cats included. It seems that the Kooks cost about 1100 to 1200 for that set up and they are not installed. Thanks Jim |

Stainless Power or TSP, but with either your looking at around 1000-1200 installed. I would also recommend a custom tune.

If you want to go less expensive go with ether Stainless Power or TSP they have the best reps for what they are. as for the install you would be flat out pissed if you paid someone to do it.
These cars are too easy to throw headers on. I dreaded it because I thought it was going to be a hassle it was ridiculously easy. At most a 6 pack between two guys. Also for comparison sake I put down 432HP/422TQ on a DynoJet bone stock she put down 368HP/365TQ on a similar DynoJet. so about 60+HP/50+TQ with the following mods. ADM Race Intake (scoop), Pfadt LT's (w/cats), Vmax ported TB and I swapped out the factory H-Pipe for a Magnaflow resonated X-Pipe to quiet things down a little. Our cars are very similar

I think TSP headers are the cheapest i've seen, and plenty of people say they're quality.
if it's an option, i'd recommend saving some money by doing the install yourself. should take less than 4 hours and then you've saved some money to put towards the tune you'll need to clear the CEL. |

Several less expensive options. It will be tough getting any LTs with cats installed for that price. And don't forget the tune if you want to get the most out of your setup.
But if you DIY and skip the tune you can come close to your price. The LT install is dead easy even on ramps. But will need a code editor to periodically check the CELs you will get and turn them off: $50. Go into your local area Camaro5 thread and see if someone might help you. Usually for a 12 pack of good beer you can save money and learn a lot. Some helpers are less picky and anything cold will do. DRs will do as much as LTs for your cars ETs but you will need at least $1k for that.

Stainless Power headers with HF cats are going to run you $899 without installation. As was mentioned above, installation is not too bad and should only take a few hours in your garage on jack stands. My buddy did it in 2 with his wife helping as an extra set of hands. If you are moderately mechanically inclined, this would be your cheapest option.

I will say this my tuner did comment on how lean the car was before the tune. I honestly wouldn't want to run the car very long without one. At the very least a mail order tune is needed.

I was quoted $700 just for an install.. Better off doing them yourself IMO.

Get TSP headers 528.xx shipped with no cats. $300 or so to get installed. 3 hours of work at a labor rate of $100/hr is fair. With the proper hand tools you can install yourself and save even more money.
Don't believe that the higher the cost of the header, the more power you will get. They are all virtually the same with the differences mainly in the type of metal and welding work. |
