I'm contemplating this system. Don't know which system or setup I would choose but I'm debating it. Long as it can be controlled.

Depends how much you are in boost and how often. Some guys go weeks or months before filling their tank. I went days. The Alky Control system uses braided lines which I would recommend over poly lines in the engine bay. It's also a progressive system. It ramps up the pump speed as boost increases. It doesn't even turn on until 3-4psi of boost so light acceleration won't activate it. Drop the hammer and it comes on. You can also leave it off if your tune is done right.

22-30 is probably with no tuning. More if you are adding timing to the tune for the cooler IAT and added octane.

You can turn off and adjust the rate of it spraying with the Alky Control kit. It's what I used on my C6 and it worked awesome

Yes. After the MAF and before the TB.

A safer way to tune for meth is to use the IAT timing table and only add timing at cooler IAT's. How I did this on my C6 was it only added extra timing when the IAT's were less than 70F. IAT's go above 70F and it reverts back to how much timing it can take with no meth. You could do the same thing for the ZL1. Do some datalogs and figure out where your IAT's are while spraying meth. Gear the added timing to that range. Lets say you never get above 115F on IAT2 while spraying meth. Only add timing less than that. When it goes above that either leave it stock or be a bit more aggressive on pulling timing for hotter IAT2 temps.

The other concern with meth is fueling at WOT. You can run your AFR into the low 10's with meth and pump gas and be okay. It's how I ran my C6. Not much extra power to be picked up by leaning it out to 11.5:1 while spraying meth. The other concern is you are pulling fuel out of the tune with the injectors to get it that lean. So if you loose your meth you also have to worry about a lean mixture. Tune it to 11.5-11.8:1 on pump gas. Then let it end up where it ends up while spraying meth. As long as you aren't less than 10:1 you are fine.

This way if you loose meth injection your motor won't go too lean and the IAT timing table will pull the timing back and your motor stays safe.

GOOOOOOD INFO! This is the info i was looking for, thanks a lot!

I have the Alky Control system with the trunk mounted tank, does anyone have any vapor issues when the car hasn't been driven in awhile? I know the methanol doesn't really have a smell but when I get into my car after it has been sitting for a bit, I have to roll the windows down.

I am thinking about one of these kits also. I would like to have the one with the 5 gallon tank in the trunk. What does this complete kit cost?

Should be around $1,100 with the tank from what I found.

I think you might be able to get a trunk tank and a good set up for around $900. It would be a single nozzle and you wouldn't get a new IAT sensor at that price. I just looked on JDP's website. That doesn't include labor.

I am running the Alky Control Methanol system. I have the 1/2 Gallon tank mounted inside my Cold Air intake box. The installer got my directions confused. I wanted them to use my Wiper fluid tank (Holds a little over 1 gallon) and then use the small 1/2 gallon tank that comes with the kit for my wiper fluid. So I get 3-4 passes at the track and have to fill it back up. I keep a gallon in the trunk for refills. I'm currently running 50/50, but I am switching to 100% methanol soon...My tuner set it up so that if my IAT's get over a certain temp, it pulls all the timing so the motor don't get hurt. Good mod and it does not tax your fuel system, thats a nice bonus...

Our setup is one of the cleanest and best setups out there IMHO. We use the best of both worlds; Alky Control pump, lines, nozzles etc. with AIS's molded trunk tank.

This setup provides a 4 gallon trunk tank that looks almost factory and Alky's pump capable of 100% methanol. Alky also sues stainless lines and fittings that are sure not to leak...none of that push lock junk that are much more prone to issues.

AIS Trunk tank

We use this setup in 90% of the FI builds we do here and this setup is standard on our ZL-700/850/1000 kits.

It helps keep AITs down, octane up under boost and overall makes everything safer, more reliable and consistent.

Feel free to call, PM or email us anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Tyler
