Actually, they really don't. The ATS is a dog given the peak HP rating GM's turbo 4 has. When you put it up against the BMW 3 series with a turbo 4, the BMW destroys the ATS. Too bad, because the rest of the car (ATS) is outstanding.

They have some work to do on that engine.

Mercedes makes an A 45AMG that's faster to 100 than their CLS 63.. the A 45 is a hatchback version of the CLA we are getting here..

The V6 owners are the ones wanting a 4 banger. Don't let it effect you.

I should have said not all V6 owners, lol. Nothing wrong with a V6, they are quick! Actually surprised the hell out of me when a friend of mine took me for a spin.

I would love to make a scale replica camaro that uses a motorcycle engine though... ok it would still be silly I guess.

With the rumors about the new Mustang getting a turbo 4 that actually outperforms and is more expensive than a 6 cyl, one would imagine GM at least looking into it.

The only numbers that most performance minded people concern them selves with are the performance numbers, not the number of cylinders. If you`re more concerned about the sound that comes out of the exhaust that`s fine, me myself I want to see impressive G ratings, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and if it can deliver decent to good gas mileage then all the better. I don`t give a damn if comes from 2,4,6 or 8 cylinder.

I just love a v8 period...but not withstanding the 1000 + hp turboed 4 bangers out there. If the 4's can do that in the camaro then I am in.

This thread just keeps on and keeps on lol.

It should be no shock to anyone here that a turbo 4 could run with or outrun a V6. Performance oriented turbo 4 engines these days are making 280 - 320 HP and that same amount in torque and also makes that torque at low rpms.

Compare that to a V6 which makes plenty of HP 323HP, but just 278 TQ and you can easily see how the turbo 4 could be quicker.

Throw a tune on the turbo 4 and suddenly your looking at TQ numbers closer to 400.

Yes right now the rumor mill seems to think the Mustang base car will be the V6, with the T4 being an optional engine which likely will have more torque, and better highway gas mileage.

I'd guess that GM is doing the same.

Would rather see a turbo 8 option than a turbo 4 option.

I agree, still can't figure why no one will compare turbo V6 to turbo 4 on this thread. Any performance (HP and TQ) you get from FI of a 4 banger, you can get with FI V6 or FI V8.
