LT5 In Camaro’s Future

Seeing the impressive LT5 with 755 horses and 715 torque, it’s only a matter of time before it hits the ZL1 or even a Z28. I think we’ll see it 2020. I’ll bank on it. Just speculating though. It’s truly an awesome sight to see Chevy producing the worlds best sports cars for the money with the ZL1 and ZR1 and with 2.50 gas prices to boot. What a time to be alive.

possibly. I suspect that next generation will be full electric or hybrid, with only non-street intended models gasoline. My thoughts are in 10 years time the electrics will be faster and lighter.

Z/28 might fall in to that category.Young people don't have the passion for cars like us-to them driving is a nuisance. Combined with looming CAFE standards only a matter of time before the big three ax performance, but what a ride we are having currentely!

I could see the LT5 potentially going into the Camaro, but like the last generation, the top engine was reserved for the ZR1 while the ZL1 and CTS-V got the lower spec. Maybe a Z28 with CCB's and the LT5 along with the valve spool dampers.

I'm sure the LT5 will be in the 2020 Camaro lineup. Maybe in the Z28 or ZL1. Might make it into a SS without the supercharger but I'm thinking not

I know this was discussed a while back ago with the ZL1 having a drag strip option for quarter mile racing. As of right now, Chevy offers the triple threat in ZL1. And they offer the ZL1 1LE as a track option. What about ZL1 drag strip option with the new LT5? You think Chevy might reveal it this February or March?

Chevy is full of surprises for the ZL1 last few years and would NOT be shocked if this was revealed early next year.

2.65 blower instead of the 1.7
Dual fuel injection instead of only direct injection
Stronger crank

They really need to swap the LT5 into the ZL1.

There are plenty of young people in Camaros.

I agree that the ZL1 needs the LT5. I made a thread about this topic last week.

http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512979

Besides the fact that the extra power is gonna be necessary to be competitive with the upcoming GT500 and a potential newer Hellcat, the LT4 is just too limited with it's fuel system and little blower. As it sits, the Hellcat just slightly edges out the ZL1 in a straight line, the upcoming Hellcat will likely be even faster, not to mention the GT500. Then when you add bolt ons, the gap just gets even bigger (bolt on Hellcat vs bolt on ZL1)

Isn’t the Z28’s thing that it is N/A? Why would they have two supercharged options in a camaro? I’d be nice in the ZL1 though. Maybe they’ll give the 1LE the bigger blower.

You should expand your social circle. There are plenty of 20 and 30 something’s with V8 camaros. And with V8s in general.
