Remeber the ZR1 is only forcasted to have around 2k - 3k total, probably only 1 year of production, long 2019 MY for the C7, so only that many hand built LT5 engines...maybe something comes out this engine down the road, like an LT5 that is not hand assembled and cheaper, more mass produced, kight make its way into a ZL1 in a couple of years especially after the GT500 arrives.

Wrong way to look at it. The Z06 is the middle tier Corvette. And everyone knew the ZL1 would have the LT4 at minimum. Just like the last top Camaro (Z28) got the middle tier Corvette engine (LS7).

Did the original C4 ZR1 LT5 go into an F body? Did the LS9 go into a 5th Gen? And will the ZR1 LT5 go into a 6th gen? No, nope, and probably no.

And uh, a non supercharged LT5 is basically an LT1 and basically not an LT5 anymore...at all. No need for a ~460-480 HP 6.2 in the line up.

Even when the C7 goes out of production, they won’t have a reason to put the LT5 into the ZL1. Possibly the Z28 but I doubt it since that’s a lot of power for a track oriented car (but do we need a car more track focused than a ZL1 1LE)?

The LT5 could find its way into the Z28.

I recall Al being interviewed about future z28s and he was specific that they will always be NA, as they always have been, and it’s part of the brands herititage. Not that things couldn’t change....but he did say that.

That's not really true, nobody was sure a ZR1 would even exist until the spy photos this year.

I see a variation of the LT5 fule system being added to all the LT motors 5.3’s and 6.2’s. LT4 also. With a Little power bump and efficiency with higher compression.

Could see a LT1 with even more low end power and 475-480 hp.

Also by building the fuel system for the trucks would drive the cost down for the cars.

Does Al O actually answer the questions in the "Ask Al O" section? If so, maybe we can ask him if an LT5 powered Camaro is planned.

Don’t think u can compare 90s GM to the current. Especially the clock is ticking. Not much time left for the 6.2 v8

If the LT5 does make its way to the ZL1, will it not go first to the CTS-V? In 2009, Cadillac CTS-V got the 6.2L from the Corvette ZR1. Then it went to the Camaro ZL1 in 2012 model year.

2015 Corvette Z06 has the new supercharged LT4 motor. It then makes it way to the 2016 CTS-V. Then 2017 ZL1 gets it.

See the pattern here. It seems the new motor makes its way to CTS-V first. Then ZL1 later. If this is the case, lets see what 2019 CTS-V has in store. If the CTS-V gets the new 10 speed auto and LT5 motor in 2019, that would be an awesome car.

Or as I mentioned earlier, LT5 could be offered as a drag option for the ZL1 to compete with the demon. Perhaps they would remove some of the creature comforts to help with reducing the weight some and make it the ultimate 1/4 mile car.

I think 2018 should be another fun year for cars.

There is a reason the ZL1 1LE was named the ZL1 1LE and not the Z28. They are saving the best for last. And GM execs have final say anyhow. If they want a Z28 halo Camaro then it will be.

I just want to know when parts from the LT5 will be available...that dual fuel set up will help many people looking for aftermarket power and running out of fuel. Hopefully that 2650 fits under a Camaro hood.

Seriously, very few of them make salaries to buy the cars mentioned here.

You do realize that “millennials” are people born from around 1980 to about 1996, right? That would be people 21-37 years old as I type this. I fall into this demographic and own my own home and a new ZL1. I’m definitely not an exception either. Go to something like a half-mile event and you’ll find many of the owners fit this age bracket. There’s plenty of guys in their 20’s and 30’s who have a passion for Performance cars and the means to afford them.

Don't hold your breath for an engine swap....

Seems like this might be Front-Engined Corvette's swan song.
