I know that technically anyone who owns their Camaro (paid off loan) can legally drop Collision (to lower your rate), but for cars this new you really don't want to do that just yet. It's actually not worth it to drop Collision unless your car is 10 years old, so 5th Gen owners can't even think about doing that until at least the year 2020.

Just paid my 6 month premium. State Farm (low mile policy) 33 yrs old (also have other vehicles and home insured which makes a difference) cost was $249 for 6 months.

But what do you guys pay for your premium?

I'll start. Geico - $446 a month. 18y/o :(
I have to say it...You're an idiot.

Maybe $60 in a combined car premium, the payment is $450/ 5yrs for the car itself.

I also found out that Progressive gave a discount, for the first 6-months, of $50 for signing up with them online. So even when it goes up to $509/6-months, it still comes out to saving $318/year over Geico.

Progressive also has that thing where you take a "Snapshot" of your driving habits and it could save you up to 30% off your premium. The lady I spoke with on the phone asked me some questions and said I would be a great candidate for it, so I am going to give it a try.

For those interested, the Snapshot device tracks what time of day your driving (she asked if I am ever out between 1am and 4am, when I said "No" she said "That's Good"), whether or not you brake hard (looking to see if you tailgate, etc...) and I forgot the third thing it tracks, but it's nothing that would invade your privacy. The lady even said it doesn't track speed.

Your premium will NEVER go up due to the Snapshot tracking, you just may not save any money. So I figured it can't hurt to try it out.

UPDATE: I think the third thing it tracks is how many miles you put on your car, so for someone like me I'll be almost certain to save money using Snapshot. The lady asked if I put 15k on my car in a year, and when I said: "Not even close" she suggested I try using Snapshot.

Big brother if you ask me. I'll pass on that.

State Farm 42 y/o with clean driving record.

$156 per month for full coverage on all 3 vehicles for my wife and I.

The 13' SS is $56 of that per month.
I carry twice the state minimum amounts and have $500 deductibles.
