GM has the triple threat crown. They make a car that can do everything very well. They have always done that. Even back in the late 90s many magazines tested the Vette against the best and most expensive super/hyper/ultra/elite cars in the world. All of them costing twice as much as the Vette. The Vette never came in last in any of the performance tests. And in some of the tests it was in the middle or towards the top. That is what they're doing with the Camaro. It took this long for the competition to catch up and even now the ZL1 won't be last in handling, braking, price, or options. It might be last in the quarter mile but it still will be formidable. And it will be the least expensive AND won't have markups.

If the REHC is gonna run to the $80k range, buy your Zl1, take that $15k or $20k left and you have a mid 9 car if that is your purpose.

What turns me off is the fact that you HAVE to spend that much money on the ZL1 to get significant gains. Whereas the HC with just a pulley and tune can hit mid 700s. Personally I'm probably never gonna mod a car past the point where my warranty is voided. So the stock power levels of these cars is fine for me.

What about roll runs or passing grunt? Sometimes 650 hp isn’t enough.

True, as I am strictly a roll race guy. By the time my Pro Charger set up is done, I'm in about $17k so far so. But, I'm also gonna end up around 1100-1200 to the wheels. Can't really complain there.

To get a HC to that power mark, you still gonna drop some coin. But, I'm with you. Depends on what you want out of the car.

I would post up a video of a run I did vs a tuned/pulley's HC Charger. I got him by about half a car on a 50 roll, but that was before I was having heat soak issues. I was surprised he hung with me that well. I was like, shit, I've dumped a good $10k in my car. haha. But, he was on DR's and I was still on stockers so. If tires were matched, I prob would of gotten another half a car on him so. But still, even a car length with my mods compared to what little mods he had is impressive.

I have to stay away from the HC's tho as a 2nd car cus if i buy one, i know i'm gonna mod the hell out of it.

$69,650 + gas guzzler

Not bad really, as it seems they've lowered prices quite a bit, for the Challenger anyway.

Yea the standard Hellcat is now $58K. Which is gonna drop resale value even lower. Because used HCs were going for around that price. So I guess I won't be keeping mine.

They also removed some options that came as standard on the Hellcat.

Dodge makes way too many of every model. The Demon is excluded with that of course. Over 30,000 hellcats have been produced to date.

They aren't concerned with our desire to mod the car. They were occupied with keeping costs down, maintaining hood clearance, and longevity. I don't plan to mod mine so for me I rather them have done it this way and keeping the costs down. But if I was going to mod it then I'd be a little irritated.
Obviously. I know all of this and I knew this when I wrote the post and I've posted what you said above in other threads. I just listed it as a general beef that I and most others have. And it didn't quite do exactly what they were after. It created a MASSIVE over-heating "Scandal" that manifests itself to just enough owners that it keeps getting perpetrated. I'm sure the weight in heat exchangers the ZL1 carries doesn't help its performance or curb weight. There are other problems the size of the blower causes but, it doesn't matter. But because of them, pulleyed cars, however slight, deal with lots of heat issues. Meth or E is almost a right off the bat necessity. Before you reiterate the above, I KNOW GM doesn't care and never had that in mind when they built the engine. It's just a + for the Hellcat or a 13-14 GT500. The new GT500 is likely going to be mind-blowing. I expect a GT350R for handling with a 750+ HP 2.3L+ blown V8. Possibly TT. If it's eco-boost then it's shit no matter how well it performs.

The RedEye will walk on the ZL1 in the Quarter. The bigger problem for the 2020 GT500 is will it take the ZL1 1LE on a road course. The LT5 would be a good fit in the ZL1 or call it a Z28.

If it’s behind the release date that might not be true

Unless somethings changed the ordering system was requiring a $2000 sunroof and some tech package at $1500. The 3 series rear gear is $1000 or so, and the wide body is $6000. There may be other options required too. It doesn’t look like you can order a minimal option car.
