FYI.........La Rue Tactical is having a RARE sale on their detachable scope mounts. $149 each VS $210. Available in 1", 30mm, etc. Different scope over bore , heights too.

Go0od catch. I wanted the quick detach LaRue but for $210+ I was going with a fixed aero precision light weight mount. This makes it interesting.

That's the place. Their inventory hardly leaves room to walk through the store and even when I've been there on my lunch hour you have to wait for a parking spot!

My dad was visiting a couple weeks ago and he was like a kid in a candy shop.

Palmetto is running pretty much the same deal on their site also for the shields.

Trying to decide if I have time to get to the range today. I want to, but I have a ton of stuff to do, and not much time off work.

Anyway, when you guys go to the range, what do you use to lay on when prone firing? I've seen people use pieces of old carpet, but I don't have any of that around.

Cardboard works. Sometimes I have sneaked my wifes nylon rug looking thing she uses for the beach. I should bring the umbrella next time and get the full effect!

Not my class, but us Auxiliary guys did the same thing in our academy.

Grab old target backers, pull as many staples as you can out, and get on your stomach.

Ugh. I'm gonna have one hell of a bruise tomorrow. I need to learn to not shoot from a bench. I thought M39 had a kick. The Garand, I think, is worse. Still fun to shoot, though I need to go to the range on a calmer day. It seems like every time I go to the range, it's windy as hell.

https://www.uspeacekeeper.com/collec...shooting-mat-1#

I use this super comfortable mat when we do our LR Rifle, steel shoots. As well as for prairie dog shoots. A set of elbow pads worth their weight in gold too.

Midway sells a similar mat, as well as thinner, "Tactical" versions. Nothing like being COMFORTABLE when prone. Helps your accuracy more than one thinks.

If I'm planning a trip to the range I use one of those foam workout mats that you can buy at walmart. More comfortable than cardboard.

Thought I would throw this in if no one has seen it yet. I use the 590A1 as my defense gun to get to my safe and then pull out the saiga 12. This is definitely close quarters shotgun. Got me thinking maybe I need a shorter 590A1. Just need to go through a tax stamp wait.
