I've been turned away at car shows because I didn't have a "classic"! So I know how it feels to be turned away! I couldn't imagine our 5th gen club turning away a 6th genner. Especially if I decide on a 6th gen. Heck, I sold my 5th gen and I'm still part of the club! It's all about the people and friends that have been made!

Our club bylaws state that the club is for the 5th gens, but it also points out that owning a 5th Gen is NOT a requirement.
B. Purpose: The purpose of the Club shall be for non-profit, charitable and educational purposes including the following: 1. To promote the admiration, care, ownership and maintenance of the CHEVROLET 5TH GENERATION CAMARO cars in any form. 2. To provide a forum for the exchange of information, ideas and expertise on 5TH GEN CAMARO cars and their operation and preservation. 3. To unite 5TH GEN CAMARO owners and admirers in restoring and maintaining their vehicles in a manner that will promote safety, admiration and respect within the community. 4. To provide a spirit of good fellowship and a friendly social environment in which to enjoy activities related to and using 5TH GEN CAMARO cars. 5. To promote safe and responsible driving of 5th GEN CAMARO cars 1. Eligibility: 1.a. Membership shall be open to all persons interested in 5th GEN CAMARO cars. 1.b. Ownership of a 5th GEN CAMARO car is not required for membership. There are local clubs dedicated to the F-Body generations of the Camaro. With the new 6th gen's appearance so similar to the 5th Gens, I think they would fit right in with our current 5th Gen club. the question becomes, what do we do with regards to the name of the club. Do we retain 5thGan in the name, or just remove it entirely leaving 'Camaro Club' in it's place.? The intent as I see it would be to have a club for the 5th Gens and beyond, but letting the F-Body's to there own well established clubs. |

It'd be a pretty crappy club to turn down a 6th Gen owner... If anybody for that matter. Car clubs should be about "enthusiasts" and not just "owners".

Not a member of a car club at the moment, but have been before. For me, the best part of being in a club was making life-long friends, friends that I still have today because of that club even though I don't own a certain brand of car. I doubt we'll see many clubs kicking people out, that kind of bond goes farther than the car itself. Personally, I would rather be a part of a car club that included many different brands of cars that were in the same "genre"... I will always favor Chevys, but to me it looks cooler to see a mixed group of badass pony cars than a line of similar Camaros.

I've met a ton of snobby 5th Gen owners and find it ridiculous quite frankly. Any car club that narrows its membership down to a specific brand, let alone a specific generation of a model, is just plain short sighted and somewhat snobbish. The best car clubs are the ones that promote the enthusiast aspect of our passion for cars and not brands or models.
