Cheap HUD and I saw it work.
I don't know if anyone has tried this HUD unit but I saw it work on my buddies Dodge Charger and was pretty impressed. The unit plugs into the computer port below the dash and has a flat cord that he had pretty well hidden. It has a square tinted piece of plastic that you mount on the windshield and then project the image onto that. He didn't use the plastic thingy and the image was pretty darn good. It was cloudy out so I didn't see it in bright daylight but he says it's very visible even when it's sunny out.
I don't know if anyone on the forum have tried it themself and want to make a report on how well you liked it but I liked it enough that I'm going to give it a try in my 2010 SS that didn't come w/ HUD. For $140 I think it's worth trying. http://www.ebay.com/itm/ADD-HUD-OBD-...00866090124%26 Russ Last edited by OHIOSS; 12-23-2012 at 08:08 PM. |

My car is in storage until April so if someone buys one b4 I get a chance please let us all know how it works. If it works like the one I seen in the Charger I am not going to have HUD put into my SS, I think this HUD will be fine as long as I can see it when it's sunny and I can run the cable so it doesn't look like crap laying on the dash.

You can find reviews for the unit mentioned above @ amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Head-Display-S...=pd_sbs_auto_2 and they sell the splitter Y-cable for $10. |

The 2010 2SS/RS was supposed to come with HUD. I have an early production Camaro designated R6P meaning my car was built before the Camaro's actually went into production. I also don't have the back up sensor which the car was supposed to have. I didn't see anything in the review about not using the tinted plastic sheet that the HUD products on to. The one I seen didn't use the tinted plastic sheet. Not sure if the plastic sheet would be distracting or not, you can pretty much make the display appear anywhere you want it to on the windshield so maybe if you mounted the plastic sheet very low it would be less distracting? I was able to get him to email me a couple of pictures, see below. I may end up ordering one for my Cadillac CTS since I won't be getting my Camaro out of storage until April. Russ |

I guess I am spoiled ... the display looks small compared to the Camaro's =( ...
Well just saying about reviews in general ... and not referring to this product but sometimes they may be staged to help promote sales .... from friends and family of the seller ... |

My opinion isn't based on the reviews, it's based on actually seeing the unit working. For me it's worth trying -vs- cutting a big hole in my dash and spend $1K or more and 6-8 hours of labor to install it. Plus you can move the unit to other vehicles which is a plus so long as it works well. Russ |
