WHAT IS THE BEST FUEL SYSTEM CLEANER FOR CAMARO SS?
Hello guys, quick question. The MPG on my 2016 Camaro SS is still terrible, and I have come to the conclusion that I should use a Fuel System Cleaner, but the question is which one? I've already asked around and everyone agrees that Lucas Fuel System is the best for the price. I bought a one use bottle from a Auto Zone, but I haven't used it so that I may get your opinions on the matter.
Any advice is appreciated, thank you! |

I’d be interested how you came to the conclusion that you need a fuel system cleaner. However if you must, Chevron Techron gets great reviews every 30, 000 miles.
Because virtually all my mileage is urban/city, I do all my cars and bikes every year, I absolutely know it’s a waste of money, but being an enthusiast, I do it anyway. I change my oil way too often too.... |

I've used Techron every 5-10k in my last two direct injected cars. I don't run any higher than 87 octane in my V6, so I figure it can't hurt, and can only offer a little extra insurance

I put a bottle of STP Direct Injection cleaner in my Z last week and seemed to help it run better. I use Shell V-power 93 octane or Chevron 93 gasoline most all the time.

Just run premium fuel from top tier supplier. If you plan to park car for long time, add you favorite fuel stabilizer or few ounces of MMO.

This. The additives in Shell V-power are the best. Chevron with Techron premium is a close second.

Techron is Chevron's brand name for polyetheramine-based fuel detergent. Pretty much every product on the market that contains enough polyetheramine will do the job. Some better than others depending on the other pixie dust and carrier solvent composition (some are based on gasoline, others on diesel, etc.).
Sea Foam Motor Treatment does not list polyetheramine on the SDS, it shows "hydrocarbon blend" (which is basically anything) and Isopropanol. If it had polyetheramine in it, they would probably say so. But then again to be fair Chevron's SDS for Techron doesn't call out polyetheramine either.... but you can see it definitely has some more pixie dust in it. Redline's SDS does call out PEA. IMO you should know what you're putting into your car. Some folks who use Seafoam Intake Cleaner for GDI deposits think that the cloud of blue smoke coming out the tailpipe is the deposits. It's not. It's the diesel fuel the stuff is made with. But if you want more than hearsay and you've never seen this guy's videos ... you're in for a treat, especially the ones he does on engine oils. Techron every couple of months and MMO (which is basically Stoddard's solvent and a light oil) on every other fill.
I have been doing that for years on all our vehicles.

Quality Brand name fuels have cleaning detergents added to the mixture. Unless you use a cheap off brand fuel, you probably don't need it. Key word.."probably".
