CHECK ENGINE LIGHT

I have a 2015 camaro LS and with on 55,000 miles on it my dam check engine light came on and guy at AutoZone said it was code P0442 which is the EVAPROATIVE EMMISION System...i guess the computer detected a small leak...guy at AutoZone also said it could be a hose connected to the EMS that has a small leak and not the actual EMS valve...anyways need yall input on this or if anyone has gone through this recently and how hard is it to replace..thanks!!

That's usually a charcoal canister I believe look at the engine section for v-6 or the section for problems on the v-6. Good Luck threads should point you to the answer.

From what I have read on here the vent solenoid seems to be a fairly common issue on the V6s. I believe the earlier V6 (LLT engine) it was located in the rear, to the right of the fuel tank, and on the later Camaros it is under the hood.

I currently have the same issue P0442. The code it reads doesn't specifically say is the evap sensor of any kind like codes p0443 or p0449. I have attached pics of the codes. Also I attached pics of the evap canister purge valve location (under the hood), and the evap canister and the evap canister vent selenoid (above the gas tank in the rear). As the code just says it's a small leak somewhere it leads me to believe it's not any of these. Also I don't have any of the other symptoms like rough idle etc. That would normally be present if any of these were going had. I haven't found anything on this specific code pointing to any of the listed evap problems. I have change the gas cap but still get this code. I think our best bet is to have it tested with an evap test I could be wrong thogh just sharing some info I have found.

I just found a video testing the purge valve in the engine that might cause the code to come up. Essentially he takes the purge valve off and blows and sucks air through both sides of the valve. If any air is being sucked or blown through it that means the valve is bad because when it is disconnected or off the vale should be closed not letting any air pass. So if this part is bad replace it if it's good then it's the canister in the rear of the car that might be bad. I will try this withing the next few days and report back.

So i have a question, when you replaced the GAS CAP did you just leave the check engine light alone hoping it will go away and the problem.is fixed or did you reset it ,but then the check engine light came on again??

You should be heading for the dealer because this could be covered under warranty.
