Looking at the photos, did you take your door all the way out? no reason, just swing it down.

I had same problem, especially with seeing what appears to be a filter in the little square opening below the two holes in the picture. Anybody got any idea what that is? But I did figure it out and got mine changed. Just look up when you get the glove box door down, as stated earlier in this thread. It's up above and it really is that easy. It'll all come together after that. P.S. Don't waste your money buying a OE ACDelco CF185 like I did, way overpriced, all it is, is a generic filter that says "Made In China" on it and doesn't even have a GM or ACDelco number on the filter. Looks much cheaper than the one I took out. Also did the engine air filter, 4 screws and done. It was a breeze compared to my cabin filter experience.

Ok I did make a quick video on how I changed out my cabin air filter. I hope someone can find it helpful by watching me and my mistakes but I eventually get it right. It is on YouTube but I get right to the point.

P.s this was really hard to film because I am tall and it is hard to maneuver for me in small places. So sorry for the shaking camera work.

Looks like plenty of filters that will fit on Amazon. This is a link to just one filter, but you can then see "compare with similar items" and "people also bought" down below for more options.

I hear ya! I did this today and while I got the dang thing open I can not believe that GM engineers came up with this. Why would you engineer something that requires so much force that the average owner fears they will break the door off just to get to a filter?

For those who have yet to diy this filter change - be warned. You must use considerable force to get the door to come free and drop down.

It should. They all have the same HVAC components except the controls.

Yeah what a nightmare to replace. Once you get one side sort of free, you need to pry even harder on the other side to get that one free. Filter was nasty, got AC Delco CF1184C to replace it, carbon impregnated filter to absorb bad odors.

Replaced this today in under 10 minutes. Unlcipped the tension line clip, took my time...pushed the sides of the glove box starting with driver side and the passenger then pulled down. Pretty easy! Slid in the new K&N vf2040 filter. My filter at 23K was fairly dirty but not compared to others. I live on an island climate though.

Anyone know if the K&N is a dry filter or does it have oil in it?

Are you asking about the cabin filter? Generally k&n will be oiled.
