Trade in or mod?

Hey guys I have a 2011 2LT/RS I bought my wife. She wanted a bigger car so she gave me the Camaro and bought a new Equinox(we are a Chevy family). I like the car but I have always preferred the V8 with manual transmission. My question is this: should I trade in my v6 for the SS I really want or just mod the car I have? I can't decide! The v6 is quick but will never sound like the SS. What do you guys think?

If you want the v8 then get the SS instead of trying to mod the v6 into a v8. If you want to keep the same style tail lights and front then go with a 2013. It's the only year that has that style with Mylink.

Get the SS, no sense in wasting money to be as fast as a V8 when you can start at that power level.

Getting an SS will cost you MORE in the end. Don't forget about depreciation on your current car and tack that on to the overall cost of trading it in for a V8.

Modding what you have now will be cheaper overall. Full bolt-ons can get you within 4 rwhp or less of a stock L99. Investing in a S/C from Overkill can get you within 440 rwhp for around $7-8k. That's more than any stock 5th gen SS, even the 6th gen SS.

Sure, the V8 will give you more power, mod for mod, because you are already starting at a higher power level stock. However, you are spending more money to get there.

Do you want to spend $7k to have 440 rwhp? Or, do you want to spend that same amount of money for 100 rwhp less? I know what I would choose with my money.

As someone who just traded in a 2010 2LT for a 14 2ss. Get the SS and never look back. The six-cylinder was a great car don't give me wrong but there is nothing like putting the pedal down on an SS and opening her up. It truly is one of the few things on earth that can bring you an instant smile!

I suppose I could explain my situation a bit better. My wife is currently pregnant with our third child. Any parents here already know it's not cheap to have a baby. We were planning to buy a house within the next couple years also. Simply put, we had big plans for our future before we found out she was pregnant.
As for the car, my current Camaro has 160k miles on it. It still has the original LLT in it. I'm concerned that the mileage is too high to start trying to squeeze more out of it at this point. I also know this car will never have the sound I want. These are the issues I have going through my mind. One day I'm positive I am going to get my SS, the next day I'm convinced the little v6 will be fine. Right now part of me says be the mature adult and keep the v6 and do mild upgrades while part of me still has that "go big or go home" mentality

I'm familiar with the feeling you get driving the SS. I checked out a 2013 L99 auto. I was hesitant to drive it but once I stood on the skinny pedal I just had to have one. I told my wife about it. She rolled her eyes and called me a few names lol. She hates my speed addiction, but she puts up with it

By the time you trade your 6 in even on a good deal for a SS you will be out at least $10,000 more likely $12,000. Think about it you are going to trade in an older car with smaller engine and a ton of miles for a newer, more powerful less miles car. Are you willing to spend that kind of money for lets face it a want not a need when you could be putting that towards your future house and family? That being said I have a 6 and am also casually looking at an SS cause there is nothing like it, but I am in a different financial place.
