2016 CA6 (SS > 1LE?) - Are you in or out?

I am curious about current 1LE owners and potential 1LE buyers. The 1LE almost did not make it into production, but enough savvy customers and insiders said just do it. As a result the 1LE has given Chevy lots of cred for the low investment. It is already almost a legend in some circles. So it is almost certain there will be some sort of 1LE replacement coming if not at launch, soon thereafter.

What if you could buy a CA6 2016 1LE:
  • 200 pounds less (promised by Chevy)
  • A stronger engine in both power and torque - 455hp/460, maybe a bit more HP and Torque with those Tri-Y CA6 headers
  • With VVT, AFM, and DFI
  • A stiffer chassis
  • Even more chassis development
  • 6 piston front brakes (Mustang equivalent)
  • Looks, a lot like the current car (But who cares? this is a track car)
  • All for just under $40K
  • Would you pay ADM?
Once the 2016 is on the lots or orderable is your current 1LE up for sale or are you happy with your sleeper track rat?

If you are looking at buying a 1LE now will you wait for what is sure to be faster car?

Or will you swoop in and try to scoop up a 5th gen 1LE left over to get in on the legend on the cheap? I doubt we will ever see 20% off any time soon. If you didn't jump on that don't hold your breath for a repeat. Still, sometimes you can find a desperate dealer trying to make quota.

No poll, just opinions. That is more interesting.

My opinion is that I will wait and see what it looks like. I personally don't need any better brakes, or better handling than what my '14 has right now. So I'd rather not have to pay for 6-piston brakes. More power and lighter weight is always welcome though, along with good looks.

If you were to remove 200lbs from a current 1LE i'm sure it would stop better and handle better, so no real need to upgrade the hardware there.

I don't think I would trade up at this point. While I do plan on taking my 1LE to the track this year it will be more of a treat than an obsession. I love it just the way it is, weight and all.....I am talking about my car

While the extra power and weight savings would be attractive, if it materializes, it's not enough to make me jump ship. Power can always be added but I have no plans to start stripping parts for a few pounds. But that's just me.

OUT - Just got a 2015 deliberately, but they should produce it when ready.

Is the -200lbs confirmed? Or is just rumor?

I love my 1LE, so I am likely out.

I'm out for a few years to make sure carbon build-up doesn't develop into a issue on the LT1 due to direct injection. Plus I'm happy with my current model.

Highly doubt you are going to see a 2016 1LE package in the lineup. Either way I wont be selling my car or trading it in for the next generation...
