"Both the 3.6L V-6 and 6.2L V-8 feature mechanical sound enhancers – resonators that direct induction noise from the engine bay into the cabin. Both engines are available with a dual-mode exhaust, which features electronically controlled valves that bypass the mufflers under acceleration, delivering improved performance and greater sound levels. With the dual-mode exhaust, drivers can personalize the exhaust sound, from a “stealth” mode to the most aggressive “track” mode."
So we get piped in induction noise. Might get loud with a CAI. At least it is not coming in over the sound system. That is too creepy. And that NPP system infers some sort of driver control. More noise based on the performance setting? I don't see any mention of an improved clutch. And hopefully the SS diff is a little more stout with the extra power and torque.

Let's hope! If what Chevy says are the facts I think I am in for an SS, probably a 2017.
I would need to sell my 1LE myself though. It's way too extreme for a dealer.

They have the leaked price listing for the GT350 on the mustang 6 forum. Base price is 52,995 and then you have to choose either the tech package or the track package which will get the car to 60-62k.

I don't think the 6th SS would get a close ratio tranny, its not good for gas mileage and not cost efficient.

Mag ride is (available) on the SS, it's not standard equipment. I've also heard two different quotes regarding its comparison to the 1LE.
1. its almost as quick 2. that it is just as quick. My thoughts are that, with mag ride the CA6 is equal to the 1LE, without mag ride its not as quick. Curious as to how much the Mag ride option is. I think the CA6 is great but at best its only equal too the a stock 1LE. I see no reason to trade, don't think I ever will unless they can beat the current Z28. Then again I may just go C7 Z06.

By 17 ours should be paid off and I would assume some 1LE option maybe by year 2 of the 6th gen, would love to keep the 5th and just add the 6th gen 1LE to the garage

Who knows what the base will be until the GT350 info is official...but what I do know is the car looks really good inside/out and it sounds awesome. The flat pane crank is pretty cool.
...and this is not the "R" I wish chevy would give us something on the possible future cars so I don't have to make the switch to the blue oval...but I still love the Gen 5 1LE. |

The video does not do it justice....We made about a dozen full throttle pulls to redline in 1st and 2nd gear with the mufflers open and it wails like a Ferrari......It sounds really good!

Even starting at $50K it will be more considerably expensive than an SS which should start well under $40K. That is really the point. The Chevy once again looks like the better performance value. More GT350 Internet option pricing (don't forget ADM too until the GT350 cools off which it will) : 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Option Pricing:

I just compared the current 1LE's trans ratios to what's listed in the 2016 preliminary specifications and they are identical but the final drive is a 3.73 instead of a 3.91 like in our 1LE's. Any one else notice that? http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...aro-specs.html So it looks like the same trans is going into the SS as our cars. I'm not sure if I'm going to get one or not, but I want to actually get my hands on one, drive it and really get a better idea if I like the car more or not. I was one of the few who got to attend the debut and I did like the car quite a bit, but I would still need to drive and touch to make me jump ship.

But, I could be all wrong as I know the Z06 Z07's have that as a standard feature. Last edited by gajagfan; 05-21-2015 at 09:43 AM. |
