Exactly....the "invoice" has a common number that is only a part of what the car actually costs....I don't see holdback, incentive, rebate, etc., etc., numbers that add to what the dealer makes over the so-called invoice...

They have built in numbers for profit that appear to be an expense on the "invoice", but the customer is fooled into thinking otherwise....And a small reduction is made to look like a great "deal"...

What? The dealer pays the tech. The dealer makes money buy selling you a car. Installing LPO options are part of what you paid for with the car.

OP, thanks for posting this. All information we can arm ourselves with when going into the dealers is helpful. This might be a dumb question but is there a place where we can see all invoice prices? I'd like to know invoice prices for Bright yellow paint, side spear decals, black bow ties, splash guards and some other things.

Thanks bhavyas. I also notice that sales tax is not on this document. Will the dealer charge sales tax on the destination and advertising fees or only on the total model and options???

They call a day or two later saying they can make it happen. I go in look at the contract, and point out each of the fees tacked on that I refuse to pay. If they don't take them off, I leave again.

There comes a point where the dealer is so invested that they just give you what you want (within reason), as long as they are still making money.

I will start out saying that I'm good with the dealer making $1,000 off me, so I will agree to $1,000 above dealer cost. In the end, I will agree to invoice, as long as the dealer pays to have ceramic tint installed on my car, which works out to..about $1,000 above dealer cost. I know they can get the tint cheaper than I can, so they will make a little more, but all I'm worried about is what it would cost me.
EXACTLY!! With extra incentives and especially dealer holdbacks which can be a thousand or thousands per car, the dealer is making plenty at invoice price. I have never paid a dealer fee, doc fee or anything else they want to call the extra profit they try to add in at closing. The price you agree to pay for the car plus tax and title fees the state charges is all you have to pay if you stand your ground.

The price I pay the dealer is usually going to be 5% off MSRP. Last year bought new C7 Corvette for 8% off MSRP. You see these 2015 Camaro's offered at 20% off right now to clear out the inventory to make room and money for 2016 Camaro's. You don't think they are losing money at 20% off do you??? My wife worked for a Cadillac dealer for over 30 years and she knows the real amount of profit built into these cars when all the incentives and kick backs are all figured in to the actual cash out of pocket the dealer has invested in your new Camaro.

Have you gotten your car yet? I noticed the invoice said it was expected on 12/1.
