of course. your right and the world's wrong. the only reason the world runs on petroleum is because of that vast worldwide conspiracy to keep the farmers down.

Funny from 8-46 of my owners manual:
"Gasolines containing oxygenates, such as ethers and ethanol, and reformulated gasolines might be available in your area. We recommend that you use these gasolines, if they comply with the specifications described earlier. However, E85 (85% ethanol) and other fuels containing more than 10% ethanol must not be used in vehicles that were not designed for those fuels."

Also, have you heard of a little country called Brazil? They pretty much run all their cars on a type of ethanol blend made out of sugar cane simply because they have the ability to grow that themselves and not have to succumb to other countries for oil. A big reason why they pay something like 60 cents a gallon for their fuel. |

I wondered when this thread would turn. Like Livevil I have been running E blends for 4 years. LNF turbo Cobalt tuned for E47 was the bomb.
Ran E47 in the basically bolted SS for last summer. People are ignorant of the possibilities of the additional cooling and slow burn Ethanol adds. E85 is 105 octane. An E47 1:1 blend with 93 is 99 octane. Less btu/pound doesn't mean less HP if the fueling & tuning is done right. Methanol is corrosive, Ethanol not so much. A stock SS can run 25% ethanol and the fuel trims compensate for the additional fuel needed even at WOT. That's how the LTFT's work.

Remember, there are other benefits to E85 gasoline that make it more desirable over pure 93 in terms of making power. The deficit in btus of E85 just simply means you have to use more of it to make the same power as pure gasoline. Tis the reason the stoich level is much lower than gasoline. |
