Made +41 rwhp from heads and NW 102mm TB

GPI has done it again! Got my numbers from Ben at GPI today, and picked up 41.3 rwhp at 7600 rpm, and 14 ft lbs of torque. These were my stock heads with GPIs porting and swapping to LS3 hollow stem intake valves, stock TB to the Nick Williams 102mm that matches the LOD intake snout, PAC .700 springs, and FIC 850cc injectors. I am ecstatic over the numbers so far and can't wait to pick it up and see how it feels!

Nice gains, thanks for sharing. Thats a ton of rpm!

Looks like you didnt gain any torque, just shifted peak (from 4900rpm to 5500rpm).

You're right, when I went with the short runner intake I lost quite a bit of torque but ended up with faster time slips. So it'll be interesting to see the outcome of this round . I almost wonder if I should have gotten my torque converter reflashed to
a higher stall , if that could have been a thing

Wow Chris, holy crap!! That's impressive my friend!! Glad to see you finally get it all squared away and exceeded your expectations! Nicely done sir. She's gonna be really fun to drive and run at the track. Hitting those high rpm's safely is going to be pure music!! Mine sings a real nice tune above 7200... Not sure what stall you have, but the 4200-4500 I did really made up for the lost tq I experienced with the 3200 and the LOD.. Enjoy that monster!!! Yes sir..

Thanks guys! I'm literally about drooling for those timeslips I have to say, it makes me hungry for solid roller territory, but its almost primed for boost. TH400 and drivetrain first, or Procharger next? I can't decide!!!

Damn Chris, that is awesome!

I knew it! I keep hearing from people online 'Oh, the LS3 heads already flow so good that there is little to no benefit from porting or aftermarket heads...waste of money, blah blah bla.'

With the mods you have already done, 41 rwhp is a massive bargain vs. what you likely paid for that port work -those are aftermarket head gains right there. I know that's not 41hp just from the heads, but jeez...525 NA wheel HP on an L99 bolted to a 6L80? Freaking awesome, and an inspiration to those of us reaching for the 500 club.

Oh man, I need some more $$$ and a trip to Arkansas!

I do need to ask though, are those TQ numbers low for you build? I would have expected a bit higher or am I wrong here?

Very true, it far exceeded my expectations! It felt like the 500 auto NA mark was elusive, but the guys at GPI really brought out the potential of the SS4 cam and pushed it to the max, as that seems to be the limiting factor now with the current setup, as you can see it makes power continuously and finally starts to roll over, but even though it starts to roll over, its still not necessarily falling on it's face.

And, InFiD3ViL, I feel as soon as I went to the short runner LOD intake, yes, it murdered the torque, as Ryan said. My 60' didn't change from before and after that mod though, it stayed in the 1.5x territory, and picked up ~.1 in the 1/4, but I feel it was the heads and TB that really opened it up and let it do its work (dyno-wise) and is still proof that its designed more for a higher rpm solid roller or boost application, as I am starting to push an NA hydraulic roller setup closer, (not to), but closer to the max. I've got my eye on a track around here, and hopefully it won't be long before I can get some timeslips!

There is very little gains to be had (probably less than 20rwhp) by switching heads on a typical setup that revs to ~6500rpm. His setup shows this. Where better heads really shine is in more rpm... thats why he saw as much as he did.

So all those people online stating there isnt much to gain are right on... if they mean for normal LS operating conditions. Most people dont have setups that rev north of 7krpm.

I heard from Ben when they were tuning, and he told me that it made 508rwhp up from 483, up +25 at 6900rpm but the stock injectors were at 95% duty cycle, so he suggested the FICs, 850cc. Put those on, and picked up an additonal +16. I can see by the curve it really likes 7k plus. Just runs out of cam from the looks of it

Ok, that makes sense - I hadn't really looked at it like that.

I’m waiting on my heads to get back from GPI now. Man I hope I see gains like that.
