I've not had a rate increase with Geico in over 10 years with them. I check rates all around each time it comes up for renewal and only Liberty Mutual is close to their rates. As far as luring you in with a low rate and then increasing it with subsequent renewals, that would be Allstate.

Operating at a loss???? I would love to have some of what you are smoking. They have been growing so fast they became the 3rd largest auto insurer in the country last year....Funny I switched to them FROM Allstate cut my premium almost in half w/ the same ded & coverage. Funny thing is they never raised my rates 50%, in fact they took a rate reduction the very next year. I have had a claim w/ Geico and it was handled fast and effeciently, there was no "list" of required repairers, they do have an express shop program that is offered but you don`t have to use it. I used a custom shop I have used for years. Geico does use aftermarket parts that they give a lifetime garauntee on and it is written in the policy that if these are available they will use them, and guess what, Allstate`s policy says the same thing that if available they will use them..... I like State Farm and USAA also. I had State Farm for a while and they were great, had 1 minor claim handled fast and effecient, they were a little more expensive than Allstate that I switched too from them. A USAA insured hit me in the parking lot, dented my fender and they took care of it well. I have heard horror stories about Progressive but i will reserve judgement as i have not dealt w/ them.
