Carbon fiber work in progress
I had accidentally posted this in the wrong section earlier, but I'm working on some Cf parts. These are in red since the Camaro is red. I tend to do this stuff after getting home from work. Started off by doing parts for my Solstice and now I decided to make some for the Camaro.
Ps I'm not selling or advertising anything, these are all personal projects Broke the CF loose from OEM piece, I have since reinforced it with 3 more layers of carbon. Just need to sand it down smooth and clear coat Here is the engine cover, i took off the "Chevrolet" from the sides get a smooth surface, and the text was too small to wrap CF around and still be legible. The black section will be black Cf, the silver section will be red CF |

went home for lunch and decided to work a little more on the dash piece. Finished sanding it down and threw my first layer of clear coat over it.
100% carbon fiber... I will add some thicker layers of clear coat later tonight, sand it down a bit, some rubbing compound and this piece will be done. Afterwards i'll work on the cluster bezel, the longer passenger side piece and shifter bezel. |

Could, but I don't have enough left to cover the spoiler

Anyway, I have finished the first piece, going to set it aside and take a breather for a few days. Will work on the rest later |

Engine cover received its second coat of resin. I may have under estimated how much resin I was going to need for this. Im starting to see completing the cover will take as much resin as the rest of the dash and door panel will take. Prioritizing...I will put the cover on pause for now until the interior parts are done.

Could you do the XM Antenna or would it interfere with signal?

I should be able to do the antenna, this is a composite material so it should not interfere with the signal like something metal would. Although the antenna and cover are 1 piece. Would prob be more straight forward to just wrap the factory one. I mean i could make a mold that over lays the factory antenna, but that would need to be attached with some type of adhesive. And since the roof of the car sees more air flow, if any of that air, were to say, catch under the cover, it might lift it right off the car. bc let's be honest, I'm sure a lot of us do a lot of "spirited driving" as higher than average speeds :p

Man your work is sweet looking. I have been toying with the idea of getting into working with CF, I just haven't taken the initiative to actually do anything with it yet.
Good job!

anyway, went to test fit the small piece, looks good, needs to be trimmed on a few edges, but overall, it looks great. Also got started on the longer piece... |
