Track Tires

I currently am running super sports on my car and they are awesome for the street and I have heard they are good in track just not a ton of life in them for track days. I was looking into some Pirelli P Zero PZ4 just for the track, does anyone have any use on the track with them or have any thoughts on them? Can’t find much about them on track other some a few guys using p zeros but not the pz4s

The stock tires are better than any of those.

This, the supercar 3 are fantastic.
The supercar 3R has almost Hoosier levels of grip.

R888R are a bit noisy but the grip is way better IMO then cup2's or stock, both of those my 1le was to easy to get sideways and wouldn't hook as good from a dig.

Why does it surprise you that someone likes the R888R? Most people I see with highly modified supercars pushing north of 1500hp swear by them.

Nankang CR-S's and SuperCar 3R's as the new hotness in the 991 / 992 forums right now, they love them.

Endurance 200s or some Super 200s (not A052, RT660, or Vitour) would be good options but if you only have one set of wheels I would just run your PSS if it is your first time ever driving on track.

The stock SC3s are great on track and acceptable on the street when they are not low on tread.

I would not recommend going below 200 treadwear if you're new to tracking because those tires can mask bad habits and mistakes happen at higher speeds with more sticky tires. Some HPDE organizers require 200tw or higher for novices for this reason.

for a street tire you can take on the track MAYBE the yokohama v601 - just my opinion.

for a track tire you can run on the street - either the continental extreme contact force or the good ol stock supercar 3. the contis are probably more comfortable and probably better when wet/cold. supercars are probably a tick faster on the track but maybe a little more peaky.

JMO, not an expert by any means.

The GY's were made for this car and are excellent on the road and tons of fun on the track. It's a perfect tire for someone starting out driving track days. They provide great feedback and won't get super greasy unless you're pushing hard. When I first started, I had gotten 5 track days on a set before swapping out. Throw a little camber at them and you'll be very happy with performance and wear.

I ended up purchasing a second set of 18" staggered wheels and tires. I now run Nankang AR-1's and they are just a step down from slicks. Good luck!

GY SC3's are just as good as all the "cheater 200TW tires" The only downside is that they don't make them in 315/30/18. It's such a great tire all around, they last a decent amount of time and stay fast all the way down to the cords.

I tried the Atturo AZ850's and i am impressed by their grip and handling. i just did the second HPDE on them last weekend. They need warming up, but once warmed up they feel comparable to the GY supercar 3 on the SS 1LE. awesome price on amazon. i was able to reach 132mph on dominion raceway which i consider a smaller track from what i seen online like VIR or summit point.
