Yep. Not going to do it guys. My wife and I really appreciate all of your insights....very very helpful

Going to drive the 2SS again and see if I've been hopelessly spoiled by driving the crazy HP stuff lol.

Dammit I was so happy with the 2SS, why couldn't I just have left it at that? Now I'm looking at stuff that is 15-20K more

Cars are an "Arms Race". Theres always going to be something better and we're always hoping we get that special car that becomes an icon. In reality, the odds of that are pretty unlikely.

My advice: Figure out the single most important "subjective" quality to you in a car, then find the car that does that one thing the best for the money, then buy the car that one-ups it and just focus on that one subjective quality. Being a subjective quality -- no one can argue with you. This helps me to appreciate my car and forget how all the new cars are becoming lighter and faster and cheaper

For me that quality is: A mean car. This is subjective, no one can argue with me about what "mean" means. So for me I can make mine the best (to me) and no new car can do it better. I did Headers, HF Cats and exhaust on my ZL1 and now its "MEAN"! Spitting and burping at anyone that comes near it. That sort of thing doesn't go out of style and doesn't get better with new generations.

Just my to cents

You also need to look at how much maintenance will cost ya. Personally I've had nothing but problems with little blue ovals, and my 12' SS looks better imo.

The GT500 is rare I'll give you that. I still think you'll get more bang for your buck with SS

What I like about it:

1. It's a unique car that you don't see on the street everyday.
2. 662 HP and 631 lb-ft. of torque.
3. Resale value long term vs. SS. (this car has obviously already taken the depreciation hit).
4. 662 HP and 631 lb-ft. of torque....
5. It only comes in manual, so I don't have to read 8 pages of auto vs. manual threads before I decide which transmission to get.
6. Muh connection to the car (manual brah.)

Anyways, anyone have any thoughts on this? What would you do all things being equal (my SS build is 47K OOD).
To answer the question... No. I want a daily driver. I buy a car that appeals to me and drive the hell out of it. It would be a waste of a limited production car for me to put through the rigor of daily wear and tear. Could I, sure. I'd feel bad doing it. It would almost be like driving a rare Yenko Camaro to work everyday. The loaded 2SS I ordered will fit my purpose just fine.

But the search is so much fun! If you "can" afford stuff that is more, there's no reason not to look, and compare. If you're lucky, the right car will make the choice for you.

If that car has the SVT performance package and Nav- yes. You will not regret it. Amazing cars. You will not win many races....traction is nonexistent!lol But they are awesome and a complete beast on the highway.

Before owning my 2015 ZL1, I owned a 2013 GT500 for 3 years. I didn't have a single problem with it. Before the GT500, I had a 2011 Mustang GT for 2 years and didn't have a single problem with it.

My ZL1 has had a knocking problem. I've heard many others have had problems with their supercharger, I've had problems with my clutch vibrating on launch.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer my ZL1 but I wouldn't say Chevy has anything on Ford in terms of reliability.

These are good points. I can confirm this first hand.
My GT500 had $#!T for a traction control system and the stock 285s in the rear were terrible. I bumped it up to 315s (cost me 10k to get them to fit) and it was better but not enough. The car really needs a widebody kit and 335s at least.

As for winning races. Actually I disagree. The Shelby will win most races since most races are either highway pulls, stoplight drag races on the street, or maybe even some 1/4 mile at the strip. In those cases, the Shelby is king or at least has plenty of potential to be king for cheap. Just don't take it to the track (I did) you'll be embarrassed when you have to give the "pass by" gesture to a Toyota FRS... :(

Here's my shelby at Sonoma Raceway (Thunderhill)

I've never owned a GT500, but u have to expect the oil change and maintenance have to be expensive. I mean unless u do it your self.

I've heard nothing but problems w/ the pro chargers and such, I'm not going to go that route. The tuning and power u can get out of turbos is unbelievable. Which if I add power like that, turbo is the way I'm going.

Look at the 2016 Twin turbo setup on YouTube http://www.torquenews.com/106/worlds...-makes-650rwhp

All services for the first 60k miles were included in the purchase price of my Shelby. I was pleasantly surprised.

I think if you're talking about cost of ownership. An aftermarket turbo or supercharger setup is going to cost you more in the long run of maintenance and headache than a warranty setup.

Thats my gut, but theres other pros and cons to each. Having a heavily modded car is always cool.

I agree. I'm not gonna gonna do any heavy mods on my car. Exhaust, cam & maybe some head work but that's about it.
