HPDE insurance ?

I'm planning my first track day this April at road America , I was wondering , do insurance companies offer insurance for your car if you eff it up? I know I need to call my agent, but I don't want to raise any red flags if it's going to mess up my regular insurance. I saw for one event at road amarica this year insurance was offered for 600 for the day. I'm hoping its a lot cheaper elsewhere . Any one have experience with this? What's covered? Deductible? Ect.? Thanks in advance

Yeah, I looked into that on a Corvette I was tracking years ago. They actually do offer special coverage, but it was crazy expensive and they said my regular insurance carrier would have to be informed.

Do a search. I can't remember the thread but someone posted an insurance place that specializes in track days and it was like $200 for the day.

It depends on the Value of the Car & how many days of of coverage you purchase.

As I remember I pay around $160 a day for $40k of coverage

I was also told my regular insurance company would be informed. There are stories of insurance companies dropping people just for inquiring about track day insurance.

Ok thanks , I'll have to think about this a little... Next question, has anyone ever had to use track day insurance?

I have two neighbors that work for both State Farm and Geico and they said that their companies would cancel your policy in the state of TX if they were notified that a vehicle they insure was found to be participating in a racing event. Inquiring about the cost for coverage would not result in cancellation but could flag your policy for deeper review in the event of a claim.

Do you live in PA? Who did you get your HPDE insurance through? I don't know if what I was told is true or not. It is just what I was told.

HPDE are not racing events.

She is obviously a Moron!

Tracks do not offer insurance. Track-Day Insurance companies do.

If you don't give your Insurance Info out to the wrong people, it can't be reported!

Now if have an Accident @ a HPDE and try reporting it to your Regular Insurance, they will deny it and drop you like a Rock. Read your Insurance Coverage! Most will have wording that you are not covered when Racing or doing an Event on a Race Course. While a HPDE is not Racing, it is on a Race Course and you are not covered by your Regular Insurance.
