Buying a 45th Anniversary Soon
Hello,
I'm looking to buy a 45th Anniversary Camaro SS soon & I was hoping you guys could give me a little guidance. I have a few questions. 1)Are all 45th Anniversary Camaro SS's also considered 2SS? 2)45th & 2013 Camaro's getting awfully close in price, is there anything the 2013 offers aside from the My Link Screen that'll make it worth the extra cash? 3)What are some of the more common problems that these cars are having that I should look out for when buying one? Thanks in advance!

The 45th anniversary only came in 2SS or 2LT trim levels. So yes, a 45th SS would be a 2SS. I'm not up on the differences between the 2013 and 2012 models so someone else will probably chime in and let you know. As far as common problems, take a close look at the dash, under the vents but above the radio and look for bubbles. A lot of people have had a problem with the adhesive from the factory failing. I had mine replaced by the dealer under warranty. Can't really think of anything else right now. But, good luck, hope you get one soon!!

I think you've got it on #2, just MyLink. Nothing other than that major.

1. It only came in 2SS and 2LT so that will be a yes to your question.
2. As far as 2012 and 2013 models, I believe they only changed the MyLink Screen (with navigation). Everything else is the same. 3. Common problems? Every time I go to the dealership, I always check their camaros and the one thing that I keep noticing on the exterior was the rear bumper...it's not flushed between the rear bumper and the rear fender. Some are and some are not. It's like there's a part sticking out. I don't know...I just have a keen eye when it comes to that. Hood level in comparison to the front bumper but that is adjustable...I'm pretty sure you know how to adjust it. Interior, I didn't notice anything on mine so I will leave that to scott's45.

All things being equal I'd take the newer car. The 45th might be unique but if future value is one of your factors, I doubt the future value will be enough to justify the premium being charged for it.

I do agree that the 45th is probably not going to be a collector's edition, or will increase in value over the years. But I have to disagree with your so called "premium" being charged for it. When I started looking at a new camaro, and building it on the chevrolet website, I saw that a comparable equipped 2SS/RS was about the same price as a 45th (which is also a 2SS/RS). Plus the 45th came with unique rims, and a few other things not on regular camaros. Sticker on my 45th was $38,255. Paid 2 grand less though for it.

Hello Mancha and welcome to the Camaro5 community. The 45th is a great car but it really limits your inventory of getting a 5th gen Camaro. This car has evolved quite a bit since it has came out may i suggest you look at all the change's and buy what you like best. The 2010-11's are unique and great in there own right but some complained about the interior so they made improvements on the 12-13. In 2014 they made big change's on the exterior and you get a option to get recaro seats that almost everyone loves. The package most will agree on everyone recommends is the 1LE. Its a fantastic value for the money. There are other change's like backup sensors, hud and electric steering that you will have to read about as this car evolved. One other thing the V6 is an amazing motor but if your a V8 guy get the SS. Just some ideas take your time and just keep an open mind before putting down our hard earned money.

2. My Link, built in nav (if equipped), frameless review mirror, and different wheel from the 2010-2012 range; however, it should be noted that the 45th comes with wheel unique to the 45th. 3. There's nothing really "wrong" at this point. It seems like a lot of 45th owners have been plagued with the bubbling dash above the radio. Run your hand above the radio to feel if the leather is bubbling. If it is, have it repaired under warranty, there is a service bulletin for it. I'm actually having mine done Thursday. It's a great car, a lot of people ask me about the stripes, and you'll enjoy it in general.

I've had mine for a little over a year and I’m very happy with it. The only issues I've had was an air-bag module replaced, interior lighting went out and there’s a coolant line that connects to the engine block on the left side that was leaking, which come to find out is common with the LS3/L99s. All issues fixed under warranty.

The MyLink screen (w/ backup camera view) and electric steering are great improvements for 2013.
