exhaust questions. Solo Kits and Magnaflow

I currently am running JBA catless pipes and a Cherrybomb Extreme Series catback(sounded great before I went catless). This comes with real small, single baffle mufflers. It was a $400 catback so I threw it on when I first got the car. Now that I have the catless pipes, the drone and decel popping are unbearable and there is a horrible metallic raspy sound during acceleration from 2500-3500ish RPM. I am lead to beleive this is all because of the cherrybomb mufflers. these are not the traditional straight through red pipes, these are small, single baffle mufflers.

I am toying between two ideas, switch to a Solo catback, or purchase a Magnaflow street series catback from a member on here.

My question is, can you run a solo L99 catback on an LS3? I ask because it comes with the J pipes and I want to eliminate drone. There are no J pipes on the LS3 kit?

Or would going with the Magnaflow street series be a better idea? Their mufflers are still straight through right?

I want my car to sound like it should! I have heard other cars running catless and they sound so much cleaner and deeper than mine!

The rasp you're experiencing is from the cat-less mids. The Magnaflow street series catback would eliminate the rasp better than the Solo, but will also be quieter. You should have no issues using an L99 system on the LS3.

I've got the Mach XL system on my car without headers. It sounds good. Solo told me that if you don't plan on headers then the Mach X will be OK on an LS3. But if you are going to get headers then you should get the Mach XL to eliminate drone. Give them a call.

I also have the J-Pipe Solo XL catback system on my car and it works just fine. It is loud when I have the pedal down, and quiet when I am cruising on the expressway. Love it.

I have the magnaflow street series CB and there is no drone at all. I also have hi flow cats though. I still have the middle resonator that comes with the system but I'm switching over to a x-pipe nest year. I ran a muffler delete for a long time and the drone was really annoying. After a few thousand miles on the magnaflow it definitely sounds throatier at idle and sounds awesome when I floor it. The x-pipe will make it better I hope.

I'd go with the Solo w/ j pipes and a resonated x pipe - no drone whatsoever. I would expect it would reduce the loudness as well, maybe 25-30 percent (based on my totally unscientific guess). I have the j's and resonated x on mine, been very happy with it.
