"sometimes" it feels like my V6 1LT may just beat my LS1.
I really hate saying it and I know I may catch alot of flack over this but sometimes it feels this way, although the way they drive is altogether night and day. My V6 has to downshift to do almost any kind of acceleration on the freeway where as my LS1 will do it just fine in Overdrive. My LS1 has a firmer shift because I installed a level 6 Finish Line Transmission into it and I intend on biulding the car to a super charged 750 Horse Power. But 0-60 I am actually quite afraid that my V6 just MAY have an advantage..it really just MAY.. another thing is my V6 is probably a good bit lighter than my LS1 is as well so that may help.. of course the only way to tell is to take both cars out to the track and I haven't done this and have been damned curious to know.. but they really feel very close on the lower end.. Also when I switch to my LS1 I cant help but miss the 8 speed automatic, It transforms that V6. What I really notice about the V6 is, alot of its power is hidden much deeper into the pedal.. Daily Driving and cruising it feels kind of slow but when you put your foot into it the thing becomes an altogether different car. Handling wise my V6 will win hands down no contest (stock suspension on the LS1) -- There's a road here with alot of twisties and my V6 can take it with confidence where as my LS1 will have to slow down through it... When it comes to all out accelleration, what I notice is my V6 gets to its powerband and stays there alot longer than the LS1 does... whether its enough to beat it in a race, I really don't know.. but it scares me to think that even with a LID, TB and MAF that my stock V6 may very well be pretty close to taking it.
Maybe its because my LS1 is old (over 220k miles).. I also have a bad catalytic converter but it hasnt affected drivability to a noticeable decree yet. Opinions? I have a dash cam in both cars and I'll try to get some accelleration videos in a safe place .. maybe use a 0-60 app on my phone. |

Take both to a drag strip on the same day and drive both..then you'll have solid numbers to compare.

My 01 SS in 3k da trapped 104 mph (auto, 323 gears, lid, long tubes, no cat, tune ), I bet the V6 6th gen is is 101-103 in the same air.

Well, the LS1 made 305-325HP and weighs more than the 6cyl which makes 335hp.
Plus the 6cyl has more gears... Depending on the year of your older-gen LS1, it may very well weigh more as well. Could very well be quicker. |

Looks like your butt dyno has appropriately discovered that the V6 is somewhat lacking in the torque department, at least compared to the old V8.

Hmmm, of my 3 cars my 2 LT feels the slowest. My 1985 C4 runs strong with the stock 5.7, no cat and 700R4 auto. Much quicker off the line than the LT. And my 2016 WRX just feels lighter and faster. Handling is a toss up- they all feel good in the turns! It would be neat to drag race all 3 and see which one is truly the fastest. Regarding the LT, I know what you mean- mine has the 8 speed auto and driving it with the pedal barely depressed it does feel sluggish and the engine does not rev- I suppose it is to save fuel. You need to really press on the accelerator to get the engine to rev and get in it's power band.

The 230HP C4 "feels" quick because of tq, but... it isn't.

my 94 vette auto would run 13.8 at 104-106 bone stock. They had crazy 2:59 gears. It was dead nuts consistent though.

well, there was a time a stock N/A V6 running a 13 was unheard of .. thats what impresses me so much about this car. It just makes me very curious as to what they could really do with this car if there were a stronger aftermarket for it.. especially heads and cam, although Im not sure how things would go with heads with D.I. being in the mix.

the v6 is a gutsy motor for 217 cubic inches,no doubt.not sure how much chevy left for a hot rodder to do to it at 1 1/2 horsepower/c.i. my 2015 RS could probably have given my old big block pontiac tempest a run for the money if i had a chance to compare them at the strip.
