Tint % and Protective Film

Who has already tinted the windows on their '17 ZL1 and/or have had protection film installed? My car is being done as we speak here at my house and I'm wondering if 15% was too dark; lol. I elected to go with ceramic tint and film by Llumar. The installers here said the job would take a few hours but when they are finished I'll post pics. I'd love to hear some feedback from others on what they think as well as any pics of your ride where these two items have already been done!

I've contacted two shops regarding paint protection film. Both recommend Llumar over XPel. I was told that neither Llumar or Xpel have a kit available yet for the '17 ZL1. Both shops said they would call me as soon as one was available.

SunTek ppf also comes highly recommended. There's one installer in the area. I'm planning to check with them on the availability of a '17 ZL1 kit.

I'm not sure if that's true about Llumar as I have a company out here doing mine as we speak and the film has already been pre-cut and thus far fits like a glove!

I have been using SunTek film on our cars and it looks nice, holds up well - and their intermediate+ film is a bit darker than their regular films.

15% is pretty dark. I usually do the sides @ 35%

I got 5% ceramic on rear windows, 20% on sides, 50% on windshield.

I am talking to two shops about a clear bra for entire front. Have been quoted 1350 and 1650.

Solar Gard Clearshield Pro is what I have on my 2014 ZL1, and it was plotter-cut to ZL1-specific cad data to fit each panel perfectly. This material has stood up phenomenally to both stone protection and UV, and has not yellowed, bubbled or peeled whatsoever in the past two years.

While I cannot comment on whether or not they would have the 2017 cad data just yet, the panels in the cad program for the gen 5 ZL1 include the entire one-piece front fascia, headlights, fog lights, front 1/3 of the hood, front half of the carbon hood insert (separate pieces for each vent), and side mirrors.

I also custom-cut pieces for the A-pillars, the front fender behind the front wheels, and the rear fenders in front of the rear wheel.

I highly, highly recommend this material.

Interesting. I contacted both shops 2 weeks ago. Both checked by phone while I was standing there on the availability of a kit. How long ago did you sign up for the install?

Are you guys doing clear protection on certain parts (front, mirrors, above windshield and etc.) or are you doing the WHOLE car?

I had done them both and I highly recommend doing the whole car than parts. It gets expensive, but when you try to sell the car, the value of the car stays high, because you have brand new paint under the protection.

I literally scheduled the install last Thursday for today. The kit doesn't include the rockers and door bottoms unfortunately but I wasn't aware of that until they got here. I'll probably end up getting that done at a later date as I definitely want to be sure the paint is protected from debris that the tires kick up. I have still to find a decent pair of rock guards for the car. Ugh.

My last three cars I've ever only did the hood, fenders, bumper, rockers, door bottoms, mirrors and door cups/edges. I find this is the "sweet" spot and I've never had issues with paint fade; cars sell for what they're worth just the same from what I've seen.

Xpel is good, too but at the end of the day let's be honest...it's all about the craftsmanship, the installer.

100% I'm lucky and have the only regional Xpel installer here in my city and he's like an artist and is a car freak. His work is impeccable
