Exhaust question

Hello all,

Got a general question. I have a 2015 Camaro SS with the dual mode exhaust. It has a great sound for factory exhaust, but I am looking for a more aggressive sound. Has anyone tried the Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust? If so, does it sound better than the factory dual mode? Is there a bad drone at 2000ish rpm? Thanks in advance all!!

I personally really love the borla atak as it's the one I have. Sounds even better with kooks headers.

Have you considered LTH's and HFC's? I have NPP on mine, and just swapping these in gave it a louder, more aggressive sound. I love to take it out so some open roads nearby just to wind it out. Quintessential American V-8. Got a big thumbs up from a guy I drove by yesterday.

This should certainly be your first step. You've got a highly acclaimed $900 factory muffler option on your car. Why throw it away? Spend your money on power, not just sound. You will be pleased with the result. The best piece of advice on this forum has been to modify exhaust from the engine back.

Install some long tube headers and either get a mild to wild switch or pull the exhaust fuse to leave the flap open. The NPP exhaust is actually a great setup especially with headers.

I really doubt it will be very loud. It was between the Flowmaster and the MBRP cat back when I was buying. I bought the MPRP but seriously doubt the flowmaster system would be any louder.

Without headers or cat-delete pipe yet I should have just went with the muffler delete..... very disappointed in the sound of my car for the money spent on the cat back system, and also zero performance gains.

American Thunder is more of that classic, hollow-sounding exhaust. It's about middle of the road. If you want really aggressive, go Flowmaster Outlaw, Borla ATAK, or Corsa. I have the Outlaw catback with long tube headers and it's stupid loud.

Your factory NPP is about the same as my borla atak. Only difference is that I have LT headers. Get the headers, make some more power and save some money. For the price of a new exhaust you could just get a tune and Texas speed headers with or without cats. Way more aggressive than any catback you can buy.

I have the american thunder kit on my SS. It has that nice flowmaster sound that I personally like and is a huge improvement over the stock mufflers I took off. It has the deeper tone I was looking for without being overly loud.

I got it for those reasons. I want to do a cam and headers but at the same time I am not looking for it to sound like a race car. Just my .02

My car with Stainless Power headers and HFC and NPP exhaust with the Forza three way switch.... The ultimate exhaust, LOL I impressed the crap out of a coworker I gave a ride home too who owns a 15 5.0 mustang...LOL turn it off by the cops.....

Mine sounds as good as another coworkers with straight pipe 3"Borla ,headers..,no cats cammed etc....practically : only I can quiet mine down.........
