If you had to switch over to Luxury.. Would you?
I Have a 14 LS that I bought back in APRIL 2014. It has been amazing, I've done a couple mods, such as MRT exhaust, VTC, CAI, Z28 Spoiler, and other small modifications.
My friend is buying my car and soon I will be back in the car market. I'm only 23 and work 40 Hours a week at the bank. I then go to night school every other day. I only have Sundays to enjoy my car and take it out for a spin and hear the pipes.. anyway, I've been recently looked into the Audi A4 or the Mercedes CLA 250. Do we have previous owners around here in Camaro 5 that would give me their review or feedback as to how the car is? I'm not looking into saving fuel and such, im just looking for an attractive car. Don't get me wrong the Camaro is a beauty, but many of my friends keep trying to convince me to switch to the luxury side. Then I start thinking about maintenance... oil change prices and such. I have yet to make a final decision, as im also looking into a 14 2SS but I would really like the 16. Opinions are welcomed! |

I work 60-80 hours a week for a bank. I am 23 and I bought a 2014 black 2SS because I am a car guy. I am glad I did not go Audi or BMW or Mercedes. The only thing truly luxury about it is the brand name and a few features and those will all cost you a ton just to buy the car not to mention the much more expensive maintenance.
I looked at them all and frankly for the mileage and body style I wanted from all of them it was much more economical to do the 2SS on all counts (except gas) and much easier to mod as well. To each his own, but I think you'll like the luxury cars but miss your Camaro for different reasons. |

CONCUR! I was in the market for an SS.....even had a manual one lined up. I ended up going with the 2SS Camaro instead. The SS is in its last year (2016) or production after coming out in what....2013? Only 4 years of limited production, almost ziltch in aftermarket support (other than the parts shared by other models....LS3, TR6060....maybe back axle?), and no secondary market for take off parts.
The SS is literally a Camaro under the skin, but with 4 doors and Mag Ride suspension. |

I was just telling someone that I'm having too much fun with Camaro and the American pony cars to switch up now. Take a good look at our cars: We are serving up plenty of power and performance that is making our luxury counterparts more than a bit nervous. Before this decade BMW pretty much owned the performance handling (IMO) segment, but right now Camaro is the handling and performance car to watch.
In addition, the GM engine line up is at an all time high point in terms of power and content. I feel that right now I would rather own a Camaro, Corvette or one of the GM luxury pick-ups before looking at a Bavarian or Japanese luxury vehicle.

I have been toying with the option of trading both the Malibu and Camaro for a 16 SS. My son is starting soccer and the bigger trunk would be nice.
If I HAD to go luxury it would be CTS-V.

Or go with an ATS/CTS.

Only luxury I would get that's reasonably priced for what you're getting.

I looked at the MB E350 and the Audi A5 & S5 before I bought the Camaro.
I couldn't afford the S5 so i got the next best thing.

You're going to take a pretty big hit $$$$ having only owned your Camaro for under two years. Can you afford to do so?

Don't get me wrong, I love my Camaro. But would take my wive's Lexus GS 350F Sport for a daily driver, if she'd give it up. We picked up a 2013 with less than 20,000 miles last year for a pretty good price.
It just depends on if you value a quiet, smooth, comfortable, not real exciting ride. |

I work on all ranges, I'd never pay for a "luxury" vehicle. You're just paying extra for some flash. And you just keep paying and paying and paying.

Both have advantages, so IMO you just need to think about what you want from your DD. From my experience of Camaro vs the Mercedes e550 / the BMW 740 / Cadillac CTS
If you went Luxury: - No / low mods - On average more "comfortable" ride - Most maintenance through dealer - Cost more up front (haggle at time of purchase), but easy later on. Just drop it off at the dealer when needed and pick up later - Dealership is usually less of a hassle (take with a grain of salt), drop car off, always a loaner, etc - Possible better MPG - Can get full 4-door with a backseat that is comfortable for adults New Camaro: - More opportunity for mods / custom - Better sound (exhaust)! - Avg cheaper sticker price - On average a more sport / aggressive look or appeal - Usually dealer harder to get a loaner from - Usually less room (back seat / trunk) - Avg cheaper maintenance, easier to do on your own and as a typical rule of thumb: - the more stock your vehicle, USUALLY the easier it is to maintain |
