Curious if anyone ordered one with a Sunroof and how is the head clearance?

I'm 6'-2" and on my 1LE (with a sunroof) I was ok without a helmet. But in driving events, where a helmet was required, I could not adjust my seat to a comfortable driving position without my head being cocked to one side because it hit the roof. Really a problem as seat position is critical (for me anyways) to good driving performance.
Although I like a sunroof, my new ZL1 is ordered without one... I need that extra inch or so of headroom!

Mine was ordered with a sunroof. I'm 5' 8" and if I wear an extra tall ball cap it will touch the roof liner when I have the seat in the drive position. I do have the seat adjusted to its highest position in order to see over the dash. My son, on the other hand, is 6' 1" and when he drove my car he had plenty of head room but he wasn't wearing a cap. As thompstl1 points out, seat position and what's on your head will have a big affect on headroom with the sunroof.

thanks for the feedback...i sat in an SS and as you said, wearing a helmet would be an issue, but that would only be a couple times a year compared to how often i would use the sunroof...tough decision.

Our 2 current vehicles have them and the 2 vehicles prior to the Escalade had them, and we honestly never used them much. The main use for me was to set it to the vent setting with the sunshade slightly cracked to let hot air escape during dry, hot, summer days. Other than that, they hardly get used. So that led to the decision that it was really a waste of $900 for us. Then when you add the facts that it reduces headroom in an already low roof car, adds weight in the worst place possible (high and toward the front), and that I really like the design of the roof without the sunroof better, we left that option off of our order. If we regularly used the sunroof, then that would make for a tougher decision, but I'd probably still leave it off on this car. If I was ordering a CTS-V or another truck or SUV, then I'd get one.

I did not order one with mine as I like the roof line better without it.

The sunroof does not reduce headroom (or does not reduce it by more than a smidgen) because it flattens the roof where the groove down the middle is without it.

I had a sunroof with my 2010 SS, and I am 6'3", then I bought my 2013 1LE without a sunroof. I can tell you there is a difference. With my 2010 SS I had to adjust my seat all the way down and lean it back to feel comfortable. My 1LE no issues. I do not know the difference exactly, but maybe 1" to 2". No Sunroof for me, like others have said, the car looks better without, and when you have it open it sticks out above the roof, not pretty.
