I had a 2001 z28 i traded in for nothing when i got my 2016 1lt v6. Every bit as fast if not faster from what i can tell. But i have no numbers to show for either car. And my v6 has a tune, intake, exhaust, ported tb and probably better tires.

Interesting.
I've had two LS1's now. My 02 Trans Am 6speed ran 13.4@105 stock. Is that close to what the 6th Gen V6 is running ?

On paper supposedly... I've seen them running all over the place between 14.3's and 13.2's at the track though. I personally am not sure what mine will run.

Only thing is that the LS1 in the F bodies was underrated, and would usually put out around 300 hp, or better at the dyno. Plus they have a considerable torque advantage. The V6 gets an advantage in putting power to the ground from the factory and quicker auto (albeit more frequent shifts). While I believe the V6 is certainly a great engine, I doubt a well running F body would be slower in any measure against a V6, drivers equal.

The LS1 was 350hp. GM just rated it lower in the Fbody so it did not match the C5 Corvette. Either way the 6 gen RS is probably a good race for a lower mileage stock 4th gen Z28/SS.

They're quick for what they are. The lack of torque is what I've always disliked about them. I'd actually like to see an LLT/LFX/LGX swap into something like a 3rd gen to see what it'd do. For no real reason at all.

Current V6 will give the LS1 car a decent race, but the advantage is still to the LS1 by a decent margin, mostly due to that TQ.
But hey...I really like these newer V6s. Loved my modified 2010.
