This would allow anyone that isn't keen on the camaros visibility issues, styling ques or lack of cabin/trunk room another option.
I'm sure the new PP2 will be better than the regular PP but I don't see it being competitive with the 1LE for two reasons.

1. The regular PP on the 14-17 GT could barely compete with the 5th gen 1LE, which was comparable to a new base SS but still slightly below. So even with power upgrade and better suspension I don't think it will be close, though if it gets a tire upgrade that could significantly shorten the gap, by that I mean the new PS4s, but I think these will be reserved for the non-R GT350s.

2. The 1LE is competitive with the GT350 TP right now, (PERFORMANCE WISE!!!) and Ford would be stupid to make this ne PP GT as fast as a GT350. Now will it be a hell of a lot closer to 1LE performance? Absolutely! And probably for less $$ too. That said if they don't jump the price of the base GT and regular PP I think that PP2 as a package will be priced close to the 1LE package, probably around $5-$5.5k. This could make it more likely to keep those people that can't quite afford a 350 from buying a 1LE(because there are already of few of them on here!).

just my opinion.

All valid points…and I don’t think the PP2 will quite get all the way there either, but it could be close. If the GT350 get’s the new PS4 tires (or any other tweaks), it could improve the times enough to enable them to have the PP run close.

Once thing worth mentioning too is, the GT PP will indeed be getting the new PS4 tires.

Did they say in the press release that it is getting those? If so I didn't see it. That will be huge if true because the stock tires for the regular PP now are crap haha

Edit: I hope the new PP2 gets close to 1LE performance, that will just mean Chevy has to make it even better! And also if the PP2 has optional 10speed auto I could see that pushing Chevy to offer the 10speed on the 1LE as well.

I don't believe GT350's fascia meets Euro pedestrian safety standards. Which is why GT350 isn't sold internationally.

If the GT350 go those tires, it would make a very small difference as they have good tires as it is...the GT PP2 would benefit much more as the current tires are very meh to say the least...

I'm with ya. I can't really find any information yet on just how good the PS4s are over the MPSS, but it's safe to say it is relatively small in comparison to Pirelli's.

Some cool info on the tires by the way...

Agree. I would love a 1LE or GT PP2 with A10 that kills it at the track and runs 11's at the drag strip.

I really like this update. I think it looks much better than the 15-17 model. With a hp/tq bump in power and upgraded suspension it should be able to compete well.

Oh, my bad...then let me compare the braking of the $22,000+ more expensive GT350R then...which has even stickier Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

From 60 mph, both from MT's Best Drivers Car testing:

SS 1LE - 94'
GT350R - 101'

Still loses...

The other difference might be in trying to find a GT350R that you can purchase at MSRP, while 1LEs can be had well below that.

If you guys really think that Ford is going to purposefully nerf the new GT PP2 so it doesn't offend a handful of prior gt350 owners I don't know what to tell you. Its one thing if they want to incrementally hold back on upgrades because they plan to use the Coyote in the new 2021 platform. Its another to purposefully cripple a car that sells several orders of magnitude more to appease a few owners of a halo car.

It has been done time and time again throughout the auto industry. There's actually less reasons to believe the other way. Now it is possible the PP2 will put it on equal footing with the GT350s without the Track Pack. Since there never was any official numbers or reviews done on one.
